We are planning to be back at WDW from July 7th - July 14th.
We fell in love with the Poly last time, and would love to stay a few nights there, however we cant justify the price for a whole week when we know we won't spend much time there the first few days.

Here are our options..

3 nights POFQ + 4 nights Poly : 2588.30
4 nights POFQ + 3 nights Poly : 2437.54

3 nights ASMU + 4 nights Poly : 2340.36
4 nights ASMU + 3 nights Poly : 2106.96

I'm personally leaning towards the 3 nights at ASMU + 4 nights at Poly, because it keeps the cost relatively low and still gives us plenty of time at Poly. However I'm a little worried about ASMU in the summer. Isnt this the time when all the Brazilian groups come to WDW ? Do they usually stay in the values or moderates?

Last July we were at the World and stayed at POP. At the parks there were the brazilian groups but I didn't see any at POP. I never got over to the all stars to see but I would imagine that they would be there. I know they tend to get loud so I understand why your concerned. If I were you, and if you can afford it, I would go with the 3 nights at POFQ and 4 at the Poly, just to avoid that potential disturbance. Have you checked opening at POP? If POP is the same as the ASMU rate, I wouldn't hesitate doing 3 at POP and 4 at Poly.

I was under the impression that the south american tour groups hit in mid winter since their seasons are opposite of ours, but I could be mistaken. Anyway...if it were me, I would go with POP and Polynesian. Whichever night break up you decide on. I would most likely do more nights at POP and end with the luxury of 3 nights at Polynesian. I just personally prefer POP to the AllStars.

Thank you for the advice !! I've never seen POP,isnt it HUGE ?
Just for info, I managed to get lost at POFQ :rotfl2:

O boy, lol. Pop is big but its very manageable. Its the best value resort, in my opinion. We stayed there last July and had the best time. The food court and souvenier shop is excellent

I guess if you want to save a little $ I would go with the value/POLY combo. Pop is nice, as others have mentioned. I personally am considering a stay at ASMU this summer. wish I could go to POLY, too!

For the small difference in price, I would choose POFQ for 3 nights over ASMU for 3 nights, then Poly for 4. I have never been a fan of the value resorts.

As far as South Americans, they do have seasons different from ours which is why they are in Florida during July, it is their winter, they are on winter break.
July is very very crowded, but my experience has been that the roaming groups of Brazillian teenagers are usually better behaved than a simillar group of American teenagers.

I love POR, it was my 'first' WDW resort (DxL back in '99), but for me, the price difference is just not enough for me to stay at a moderate. Yes, the theming is nice, but the rooms aren't all that much bigger than the value resorts. We seldom use the TS restaurants at the moderates, so not having one at a value isn't a big deal for us. Yes, the values can be spread out, but until you have stayed waaaay out in the back of POR, you don't know spreadout. It took close to 10 mins to get to the food court from our AB room back in '99!!!
The beds area the same size, but there are no hot tubs (spas) at the values. However, I don't use 'public' hottubs so it's not an issue. The moderates have pool slides but we don't spend enough time in the moderate or value pools to have it make a difference for us.
So, rather than spend the money on a moderate, I would stay a combination of a value and a deluxe. I tell you, you'll really feel the difference between the two then!!!

Oh crap!! I forgot about the Brazilian tours groups.. We last went in July in '96. They were uncontrolled and rude. We were told in 96 by a cast member that Disney didn't want them to stay on property due to issue with them. We actually had to run from one ride to the next to avoid them. :headache:

We're going the same time as the orignal poster July 7-14. Also, splitting our stay between AKL and Poly.

I do not know if you are committed to those dates but 7/7 is still regular season at the deluxes. If you wait a day it switches to value season.

Looks like we'll be at the Poly together :) Well, us, and a thousand other people.

Thanks everyone for your help ! I think we're pretty much decided on a POP/Poly split stay. We loved POFQ, but the first 3-4 days we were there we only were in our resort long enough to sleep. POP will be just fine for that, and we'll have more time at the Poly to enjoy all the resort has to offer. The rooms look much nicer at POP that ASMO too. That greenish dresser, yuck!
