We have a split reservation for the same hotel. One of the nights didn't have the AP rate and the rest did. I understand that we have to "check out" and "check in" again. I hear that the probability of us having to change rooms is minimal. But, I've been thinking. In what case would it be good or more economical for the hotel to require us to change rooms to the exact same type of room in the same hotel? If they make us change rooms, they would have to give our first room a full cleaning and make ready for the next guests. If they don't, they obviously don't need to do that.

When would a resort make guests change rooms for a split reservation?

If you mention in your reservation and when you check in that you have continuing reservations chances are you won't have to move.

If someone was staying longer than you and you were in a desirable location you could be asked to move. They could have scheduled work to be done in the room you are in.

Most people aren't asked to move but it does happen. It is their hotel after all. So just call central reservations and have them note that there is a continuing reservation at this same hotel.
