splash mountain: lap bars now installed

She was going to Sue because the Security Guard released the tape to You Tube and it got a WHOLE LOT OF HITS!:thumbsup2

Yeah I know. Either way it's NUTS!

I hope she enjoys her time in the big house. Didn't they find out she was wanted for writing bad checks or something? Talk about KARMA! :rotfl2:

i was fine without them. DD says she will feel better with them (but she can be a bit of a scaredy-cat). i will say that we were in a boat with a bunch of morons who kept standing in June (they were NOT with us). i just knew we were going to get stopped.

I'm sad for this change, but clearly the stupid people made it necessary. I too have been on the ride when the announcement to Sit Down comes on. What it WRONG with people!!!!!!

I, a member of said Jury, find fault with the "stupid" people who STAND UP ON A MOVING RIDE when its clearly noted NOT TO DO SO!!!!:rolleyes1

i'd vote to convict too;)

problem is disney (and im sure other parks) have had their share of lawsuits from guests who have been hit/seriously injured by flying objects on rides...not a stretch to lump a body into that category imo

Disney has to police the idiots among us and satisfy insurance department while providing the best experience possible.

That's IT!

They don't care about the idiot standing up........ but they do have to protect the rest of us from the flying bodies! :thumbsup2

I also wish there were no bars. To me one of the biggest parts of the thrill of a flume is the feeling that you might fall out. The lap bars will most likely hinder that. I do know that in this litigious nation, which we live, that Disney really didn't have a choice. Stranger things have happened than people choosing to stand up on a ride, falling to their permanent debilitating injury, and then winning a HUGE settlement or lawsuit.

Also I saw areas of damage where it looks like people climbed out and stepped on the [fiberglass] rocks and made big holes. It takes away from the magic when idiots destroy it.

So wish they weren't there and wish the finger scan could weed out the IDIOTS. Now that would be some Disney magic! :wizard:

In a world where a woman walking through a mall while texting falls in a fountain and tries to SUE the mall...... :rotfl:

........ surely this does not come as a surprise to anyone.

Sad, but not surprised........

OMG, I forgot about her. WHAT A MORON!!! The vid was hilarious. :rotfl2:

They don't look too bad. It will just add a few seconds to the load time and most people can still shimmy thier way out of those type lap bars if they need to.

I'm 6'0" too and I couldn't even get IN the log on that ride. My knees just couldn't fit; I had to exit without riding. So embarrassing!

Aw, boo! Although, you should be thankful b/c it's a teeny space. I tested it first in the little tester log they had in front of the ride. I fit fine in there. I managed to squeeze myself by bending my leg in a very unfortunate way. Apparently, I was just really determined to ride. LOL!! It's a TIGHT squeeze in those little things.

I couldn't agree more. I wish those finger scans had an idiot-reader function in them!

These are not always insignificant details.

They simply added some basic AUTOMATIC GATES at the EXIT (disembark) side of Toy Story Mania, and the riders-per-hour dropped and so they had to cut the number of FastPasses issued per day.

A lap-bar load/unload could easily drop the riders-per-hour on Splash far more than the TSM exit gates.

Sad, but not surprised........

Come to find out that lady had stolen a cowokers credit card and charged like 5000 dollars on it. She supposedly has 5 felony charges pending against her for theft and fraud. There is also a hit and run against her. I think she may have been looking for a quick payoff from the mall. Now she does not want to file a law suit she just wants an apology. What an idiot. She is probably the same lady who stops in the middle of the mob at Disney and then gets mad when you bump into her.

just wait for them to be added on small world, pirates, maelstrom, grand fiesta tour and living with the land well.....and the tta...haha

I think it's a good idea they installed the lap bars because I know when my daughter first went on the ride she was standing up on the ride to see what was going on since she was too short to see when she was sitting down
