For our trip planned in February, I have reserved seats for my family of four for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. I remember this show fondly from my childhood days at WDW. Having spent most years attending this show with my great grandparents (who are now deceased) and my grandmother (who is now terminally ill), It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. :(

I was just wondering if people have recent reviews on this dinner show. We are actually doing this in lieu of a character meal (DDs are 12 and 9, so aren't as interested doing the character dining) - so, I want to be sure I'm making the right decision.

Thanks!!!

Yes we did it 1st November this year

I did a review with some pictures - link in my signature - Dixons go Deluxe

I have to say, I regretted going. Thought it was terrible and a waste of time and money.

How was the show? I've never been, mostly because the food never seemed interesting enough. Wish they sold tickets without the meal.

Show was awful! 80 percent cheesey dinner theater. 20 percent cool dancing-fire dancers. Save your money

It's so disappointing to hear the bad reviews - b/c I have such fond memories of it from my childhood visits to Disney. I'm really rethinking this one for us, though - based on all the bad reviews that I've seen on here (and elsewhere). Just so disappointing... :(

Feb weather is iffy at best, and if it's cold, the show is really miserable. IMO, the show itself is sub-par. Food is not worth commenting on. There are a lot of other things at WDW you'd do better with your money. Try the new and improved Segway tour at EPCOT, I think they include a small breakfast also.

Thanks for your suggestion - I may check that out!!

We just went to the Spirit of Aloha show last week. Honestly, my expectations had been so low after reading so many poor reviews, that I ended up being very pleased with the experience. The food was a little better than I was expecting. In my case, I had called ahead to see if there were any seafood or veg options... which there were. I had a tasty Mahi meal. The rest of my family enjoyed their food too. Some of the acting and the story line IS somewhat corny, but that is mostly happening while you are busy eating and drinking, so it's pretty easy to not notice. I was reading that the character of Auntie is SO corny, but I thought she was pretty adorable. :) By the time you are done eating, more of the actual dancing kicks in, and I thought most of the show was actually pretty cool. Of course, the fire dancer was fantastic. Plus, our waitress was so personable, and made the experience even better. We had a blast as a family... Corny or not, it was a good time. :thumbsup2

Thank you, for your perspective!!!

I am surprised because we enjoyed it soooooo much in March 2010! Honestly it was great food, great entertainment and alcohol was included which was nice to have a few drinks one night.
It is outside tho, so I may watch your cancelation policy....and maybe play by the weather?
Good luck!

We went in 2011 and we had a great time. The first part isn't greatbut well worth the trip. The food was very good and we are talking about going back in a couple weeks.

Doesanyone know if there is a discount for dvc?
