Spending Money

Hi, sorry if this sounds a bit personal but i was wondering how much spending money do you guys get through in two weeks?

There will be two adults and a 6 year old and we are hoping to take 3,000 but we wont have bought our passes in advance as we are travelling with family and they dont want to pay out more money before they go, we will probably be buying the 5 day flex ticket at universal and two day passes for epcot and mgm studios, as no one really wants to do magic kingdom again this time!!

Do you think this will be enough for the two weeks with extras like souvenirs, meals, (although we will only be eating in places like sizzlers, and ponderosa) and we will be doing odd days at kennedy space centre and a water park!

Sorry to waffle on but I just dont want to run out!!

Last trip there were 3 of us and I budgeted around $120 a day for food, drinks and snacks. That allowed us a good breakfast, a fast food type lunch and a very nice evening meal. Most days we didn't spend this much (often couldn't manage lunch after a buffet breakfast). That might give you an idea. Park tickets are relatively easy to work out. Souvenir spending is such a personal thing I wouldn't like to say a figure.

Totally agree with your park selection - we have the 5 park flex tickets and plan on doing mgm and epcot only out of the disney parks!

You haven't said whether you intend to take £3,000 or $3,000.

We are taking about $2,000 for a family of 3 but we have already bought our Flex Tickets.

We tend to have a buffet breakfast, skip lunch and have an early evening meal. We don't usually have expensive meals, mostly we eat at Ponderosa, Sizzler, Golden Corral but will be looking to try a few different places on IDrive.

We allowed $100 for food and drink each day in 2000 and that was more than enough.

As for souvenirs, you have to remember there are limits on what we are allowed to bring back tax free and there was a thread a while back from someone who got stopped with more than they should have had!

Im planning on 2 adults 2 kids on $200 a day for breakfast,park lunch,Evening meal (Ponderosa,Wild Jacks etc) and also clothes souvenirs,In 96 I bought 90 cds but in this age of The Internet you can buy them from your PC so Im staying away from them!, Im also getting a 5 day hopper plus and the 4 park pass but paying for them before I go .As I said for restaurants nothing fancy just 1 exception The Buffet at Bomas (Is it called that?) in AKL. I knoe ill have too much cash but its awful worrying youll have enough on holiday!!

I wonder about this all the time. We have less that 2 weeks to go and have changed our ££'s to $$'s/$ travellers cheques. I have budgeted $150/day for food, but don't plan to spend this every day by eating breakfast in the room some days and having snacks such as fruit, sandwiches in the parks and then a good evening meal. We have some Character meals booked which will cost more and possibly bring us to the average $150/day. Anything else left over will be spent on souveniers and having a good time.

For the 2 of us, we usually budget for $100 per day but we would have already bought our passes in advance. We don't skimp on meals, often eat in the parks, including character breakfasts and even manage at least one special meal, we did the V&A last time. With no kids tho we don't buy tons of souvenires, just clothes. Our clothes bill last time came to around $500.

Don't know if this helps or not.

What do you intend to do for the rest of the time you're in florida? For some reason we seem to spend more on non-park days?? Must be the clothes.

if you think you are goint to run out of cash put it on the credit card and if you have the misfotune to lose any tickets bought on a credit card it is a lot easeyer for them to cancel them and give you new ones

There are 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) of us and again we normally budget between $150 - $200 per day and we always seem to have enough to go on a spending spree towards the end of the two weeks. We buy all our park tickets prior to going.

Being overly organised I split the money into daily envelopes with any money left either being rolled over into the next day or kept to the end of the holiday for the shopping spree. My DW thinks I'm mad but at least I'm happy
