Ok, after your room, tickets, transportaion there and back, meals....after everything else is paid for, what do you take for spending money?

just curious.

do you alot an amount for the whole trip, or do you figure so much for each day?

do you come back with money, or do you manage to spend it all? :rolleyes1

we will be in orlando for 14 days. (11 @ WDW, and 3 @ Sea World) i have figured in EVERYTHING for the trip. all i need to do is figure what is a good amount per day/trip for spending. my dh is freaking out when i say we should take $2000.00 for spending.....we would probably come home with alot of it anyway, but i always think of the "just in case". last year on the way down we had van trouble, and it cost us $400.00 at disney car care center when we arrived....you never know.

so, what do you take?

It is just DH and I and I figure $100 a day for food etc. I know it wont cost us that much but somedays it will be more and it will average out. Also $100 each (total) for incidentals like the souverneir you just have to have. Which I probably wont spend. I hope to bring money home!

We're thinking maybe $800 or so for 11 days. We're not planning to buy a lot of souvenirs, but I want to let the kids get a few special things.

I THINK IT DEPENDS ON YOU..if YOU FEEL 2,000 IS GOOD, TAKE IT... we are going for 4/5 days and are taking 1,000....That is ONLY for souveneirs and the unexpected / tips etc....WE have all dining paid for , tixs and the hotel....Its a personal decision/opinion..YOU will get SOOOOO many diff thoughts here~! good luck :rainbow:

Just DH and I. We always take $1000 for food and any souvenirs as well as that just in case factor! We always come home with most of it and it goes right into savings for the next trip! :cool1:

Before you leave just decide how much each person will be allowed to spend and go from there. If everything else is taken care of then that is all you will need to do. Do you want them to be able to buy just about anything they see or do you want them to only have a few things? Tell each person beforehand how much they will have to spend and once that is gone it is gone, don't ask for anything else.

I would figure 50.00 per person(adult) per day,25.00 per child. This would include cost for any souvies or special snacks that are wanted. I would also limit the number of T-shirts-yes they are nice but very expensive and a definite budget killer.

I would definitely bring Cash for emergency purposes. You never know when bad weather or sickness will effect your family.

Just a side note: Make sure your insurance will cover out of state medical costs, some people find out the hard way that they have to pay out of pocket for the entire doctor visit and then file the insurance.

We had five people and spent about $500 in "extras" outside of meals, room, tickets, transportation, ect. THis was over a period of eight days.

We warned the kids early on though, that they were not going to get a ton of extras. They each got $20, plus a pair of mouse ears, plus some trading pins. (They started off with 10 pins each, but we loved pin trading so much, we bought a few more while there).

It all depends on how much you want to bring home with you.

We are only taking 200 cash for tips and such. We will use our credit card tied to our key for everything else.

We spent $1500.00 in May on souvenirs & such. We were on the DP so we didn't spend any extra on food.

DH and I usually bring $1000 spending money....this includes gas money, food on the way to and from FL, and souvenirs....we usually don't spend it all, but it's nice to know if I see something I want, I can get it!

Wow! I guess we were really low on the spending $ ! We spent about $240 in eight days last year - we were on the DDP and had packed extra snacks/water - and I had made Disney t-shirts so we didn't end up buying any. We bought our two DSs each Mickey Ears, a stuffed toy (Mickey and Stitch!), autograph book and pen, and a couple of really small trinkets. We spent a bit on extra snacks - candy store, etc (wasn't on the DDP yet), a bit at the resort arcade and games at AK, some on pressed pennies, I bought an ornament and a couple of scrapbook items -that was about it. The biggest chunk of our cash went to airport meals. Really - you can get away with as little or spend as much as you like there - the choices are endless :) We had pre-planned our kids souvies and it worked out well. Just make a plan and remember to be flexible with it. Have a great trip!

This seems to have worked the best for us. After you've been a gazillion times,
there isn't as much of a need to buy every adorable thing that pops up. Plus,
if you know you'll be going again and again, you can rationalize waiting to buy
it "another time". Right? Right?????? :listen:

I think much like your DH. I'd rather have way to much than have to count pennies. for my familiy of 4 I try to bring $200/day spending money. We've been a few times so we don't buy a lot of souveniers, but we do spend money on activities (cirque du soliel tickets, illumination cruises, renting power boats, etc.) We definitely don't try and budget on vacation.
