Speculate on future BLT incentives

This would be for a new contract, not an add-on. I would be able to use the points for my "first vacation". She did not elaborate but asked me to give her a call if I was interested and she would give me all the details, I haven't called yet.

We had originally intended to buy in to BLT immediately but then decided to wait until our trip this March (my wife prefers the WLV location and the alternative would be to buy a resale there). Do you think it is possible that this is not a public incentive but something I am being offered because I am teetering on the fence of BLT vs. resale? I hadn't thought of that until just now.

I would add that from my personal experience I am very skeptical that BLT is selling as fast as they expected. I was offered to be a "founding" member after sales became open to the public and from reading this board those tiles were supposed to have been long gone by then. I think it is very likely that the discounts/incentives keep coming.

We are sitting tight as well. We were either thinking of adding on at BLT, or SSR/THV, however, we've been watching the resale market and unless Disney uses their ROFR, there are some REALLY good buys on larger contracts right now. Additionally, if THV is going to be a part of SSR for the same points, we're more likely to add on there due to the high points needed to stay at BLT. I think the only time we'd stay there is during the lowest point times of the year anyway. I absolutely believe the incentives will increase. With the financial crisis, thank heavens we have DVC because otherwise we probably wouldn't be going, but I think people are going to wait and see.

You got a DVC contract, what do you mean you got nothing? There are enough people in the country still and around the world who want DVC, I think sitting too long is going to be a bad move if you want a contract, DVC is one thing people can use to escape the reality of the world and things like that help while in a rec cession, just my opinion.

If you buy/bought and only have BLT points, you have gained nothing in the short term by tying up your money (other than possibly the fountain, and bragging rights here) You cannot use those points until BLT opens. You cannot even call to make a reservation now.

It's an OK thing to pay more now and get a vacation out of your points vs someone waiting a year, paying less, but did not get that vacation.

It's just not the best feeling to pay more now if you find out that someone else gets a better deal later in, say, February and gets the same # of vacations as you.

If you think there is too much uncertainty in waiting, then you will feel better about purchasing now, that's OK. I'm sure there are new owners that have decided they are now finally ready to buy and love BLT, and do not want to wait any more and that is OK, too.

I just do not believe in the "BLT's selling too fast" hype. And even if I am wrong, There are resales of every DVC. There will be BLT resales. I do not believe I must buy BLT now, or feel left out for the rest of my life.

Hello John,

Just so I understand, if you add 100 points, you will receive 100 matching developer points?? What time period are these developer points good for?

The reason I bumped the thread is that I preparing to travel to Rochester for the DVC travel show to receive any additional incentive on a BLT add-on.

Thanks,
Jerry(jjgraff30)

Just talked with a guide... Add on at BLT is $112 - 5 credit= $107 with Matching developer (SSR only) points good til Oct 3rd 2009 only, not 1 year from time of purchase.
I asked if we bought in Dec. if we would be able to use them until 12/09 and he said all of these Developer points expire on Oct. 3rd 2009 no matter when you buy them. Nice Deal, considering we almost bought in October.
BOB

Take those developer pts and deposit them into II if they let you....gives you up to two or three years to use them (can't remember Disney's rules).

My understanding is that this is available for a 160 point new contract or 100 point add-on. Read this over on DVC news.

I agreed to buy an add on of 100 points and have received the contracts etc. I have not yet returned the contracts etc ( I am in UK and waiting for FedEx to come and collect). Since they will not receive my signed papers until after the start of this developer points incentive, will I receive the developer points. I feel that since I have not officially agreed to buy until they receive the signed papers, amd technically could exercise my 'right to cancel', I should get them. I have a feeling, however that I will not.:confused3

You should be able to get the new incentive for all of the reasons you listed. Just "cancel" and buy at the new terms.

Contact your salesperson and ask the best way to go about it. They will probably have to send you new paperwork.

Sales Guides normally don't mind when people do this. They are bound by the promotional terms that Disney sets and have no reservations about getting people the best deal they can. And they get credit for the sale either way.

anyone know for sure if the developer points are for new 100 point contracts as well? I read on another post it is but on DVC news it says 160 points. I have called my guide amd left a message in the meantime but he hasn't called me back. I have to basically already know things when I talk to my guide cause it's like pulling teeth getting any info he's always like "better snatch this deal up soon"

I'm kind of glad the new incentive is only matching developer points. We bought our 300pts back when it was first announced. Other than renting the points which I'm not too keen on doing in the first place, we'd never be able to use those 300pts within the next year since we already have 2 vacations planned using AKV's developer points then another vacation using our AKV points (got Conc so nearly impossible to get that at the 7month window with developer deal). I definitely couldn't take more vacation time in the next 12 months - 4 disney themed vacation in a year is more than our wallet would like.

Bottom line - good deal for those who can use it but I have regrets about buying right away based on this new offer.

I am confused, if I buy say, 220 BLT points today at $107 per point, I will get 220 developer points for free to use at SSR before October 2009? Does this mean that the $5 per point incentive is still in place and, they have added a developer point incentive recently?

1. When did they add the developer point incentive, and
2. Does it apply to non-DVC members making a first time purchase?

My guide told me yesterday that it just started this week. It does include new members.

So how about more speculation?...
Anyone think the deal will get sweeter?

We want to buy, but don't "need" to until May. Have there been any DVC events yet? Do you think they'll have another Doorway to Dreams event in Chicagoland in the Spring?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We too were going to wait until our trip in January and see what the deals were then because we didn't need to buy in until March (we are going at Christmas 2009). However, the developer points and the notice that was sent out saying no contracts below 100 points for BLT starting January 15th pushed me over the edge. I wanted, and got 160 points but broke it into smaller contracts incase I ever have to sell them off. :scared1: Not that I would ever want to but in the end I needed that option just in case. I think of buying into BLT as a game of poker. You keep playing your hand and holding out for the pot to be raised but at some point someone has to fold or lose everything. I chose to fold at this point and get DP's. But everone has to determine what they are willing to hold out for and what they are willing to lose.

Yes, can someone please post if confirmed ASAP? We're about to purchase, but need this info to make our decision. Thanks!

We did a 100pt add-on on Monday and got the developer points.
Our guide said incentives were not going to get much better. Of course they are looking to get our $$ but our SSR incentive was $10 off per pt and developer points. For us it did not pay to wait and hope for more of a discount. Figured it was not going to ever be more than $10 off (think that was the most they ever offered) so on a 100 pt contract it was only $500 diff. Wasn't worth the chance of losing the points.

I think incentives will be based on the economy and sales. Better sales = less incentives in my mind. During the lean years after 2001 WDW offered lots of discount room codes. Then they disappeared. The buy 4 get 3 offer tells me that Disney is a little hungry and thirsty right now and I'm almoost positive that will carry over to DVC. So I'm guessing more incentives will be coming.

My preferred incentive would be rebates or cash reductions of some kind.

Second would be a few years of annual passes.

If I got developer points I might consider using them for HH or trading out to II or maybe bringing extended family along on an already-scheduled trip.

If I buy, though, it will probably be through TTS in a few years. I want to see how BLT turns out and maybe even stay there once before buying in.

I just wanted to add the offer at the DVC Travel Show in NY:

$104 per point AKV - they did say AKV will be going up to $112PP soon
$112 per point BLT

$8 per point credit for AKV add ons
$5 per point credit for BLT add ons
credits may be applied toward downpayments
no closing costs

Additional incentives
For 100 point add-ons - in addition to above price credits you get a 3 night stay in the treehouse villas, with first choice of reservations before reservations open to SSR members or other DVC members

For 160 point add -ons - 3 night stay @ Regency hotel in NYC plus 2 Disney Broadway show tickets OR 5 night stay in 2 bedroom @ SSR plus $250 prepaid Visa card

For 200 point add ons - 5 night stay @AKV in 2 bedroom plus 3 days of fastpasses plus $300 visa card

For 270 point add ons - 6 night stay @ BLT in 2 bedroom villa plus 3 days of fastpasses plus $400 visa card OR 3 night cruise for 4 people in a cat. p room plus 4 nights in 2 bedroom at SSR plus 3 days of fastpasses

For 360 point add ons - Adventure by Disney trip for 2 people plus $500 visa card.

Can't wait to see future offers...and I hope they have a travel show or more likely Doorway to Dreams event in Chicago before April next year. (That's when I want to add on!)

If I were an SSR owner, this would be upsetting.
