Does any one else do a special trip where you just take one kid? I have 5 kids who have all been multiply times. Coming up next month I will be taking my 3rd kid for there special trip. I let them pick the resort, parks were doing, dining so there pretty much in charge of the whole trip.

Oh Yes! We have four and believe that it is absolutely important for each of them to have alone time with, and the undivided attention of, both parents. My husband and I alternate having special time with each child on a rotating schedule which we post far in advance so that everyone knows when it is their turn. Sometimes it's just a few hours spent on a special activity locally. Other times it's a multi day trip to Disney or elsewhere. It varies a lot but we try really hard to keep things fair and equal. We put a lot of effort into setting aside the time for this and I consider it one of our parenting triumphs! It makes each child feel special and appreciated which is so important in a big family.

My 5 are weird, they wouldn’t want to go alone. They’re now all in their 20’s (had them in under 7 years) and great friend who go out and even travel together.

YES. All kids get their own special trips, some with Mom, some with Dad. Started when they were young. To Disney and other places. Like DS#2 and DD got a college trip of their choice with Dad. DS chose Rome and DD chose Tokyo (and they did Disneyland Tokyo). I think it's a great idea, great way to have them feel special and great time to bond.

I go often to Disney with DS#1 (he is disabled and Disney World is his happy place), but last month I went to WDW for a week with DS#2, and we went back to Orlando again last month for a convention and added a day at Epcot. Different kids and different experiences, even at same place.

I think all kids deserve only child time! and we have some awesome memories.

My wife and I decided when our two were very young that we would do a special trip with each of them when they turned 10. Our kids are now 12 and 9. The older one decided that he wanted to go to the San Diego Zoo so we went there in December of '22. Our younger one really wants to go to Universal Studios and Epic Universe so that's where we are headed in January.
