As someone who cruises typically 2x a year I was curious as well if anyone did the math on them… There are, sometimes, some okay rates.

Did you see anything better than $11? I checked another cruise (Jan 22, 2027, 7-night Eastern on the Dream) a little more carefully and got $11 this time. Not completely terrible if someone were to use AUL-S or other cheap points, and it's a nice way to avoid the hassle and taxes of renting out points. But adding up the Costco shop card, CC cash back, the 10% placeholder booking discount... I'd still personally avoid the trade-in offer.

I believe it was a couple of charts ago you could get some good redemption with infant or child rates or something to that effect, that then made doing a points and cash joint booking not too bad of a rate.

I believe a while back for at least one chart, the 3rd and 4th passenger in concierge rooms was actually a decent exchange for points — but not at times that would have worked for us. Might have even been the end of the Starcruisers run.

I looked at the West coast Mexico sailings for fall 2026 and did some rough estimates— I think you could maaaybe get $12-14 per point in some verandah categories, though I didn’t check what they were currently charging for cash fares on those exact sailings.
