Special occasion DL question

So, we're going to Disneyland for our 3rd Anniversary and for my nephew's 9th birthday. However, we won't be at DL for these actual dates. Are we still able to get my nephew a birthday pin and that sort of thing, or does it have to be his actual bday while we're there? How would I go about getting these special things to celebrate? Thanks so much!

Just go to city hall, on the left hand side of Main Street after you cross under the RR tracks, and tell them you are there to celebrate these special occasions. They will give you pins, as long as they have not run out, and you can have a character, goofy I think, wish your nephew a happy b-day via a phone call.

Yeah, they don't really care about whether or not it's officially your birthday. They'll say happy birthday a lot and a few places will give the birthday person a free desert. It's quite fun.

Wow that sounds great, we are going for our 5th anniversary we will have to get buttons, may first visit buttons too !

The only thing that would keep me from getting a pin for a celebration that wasn't ON that date is how the person would react.

On our recent trip, our first day in the parks was my son's b'day, and it was great for him to hear HB all day long. Well we were moving a lot slower than intended (thanks to my ruining my feet the night before walking HoJo-ParPier in "cute" heels I'd never worn before) and barely got to DCA, and not getting the b'day pack of tortillas from the Mission tortilla factory tour was unacceptable, LOL. So I explained to him (a very literal 4 year old) that we had his b'day in Disneyland and the next day would have his birthday in DCA, and he was cool with that. But any longer than that, and I don't think he would have liked it. IN fact he took off his pin early in the day, and I had to put it back on him for the tortilla factory tour (it's the ONE free thing we got from a b'day, forgive me!).

So if your nephew might have a problem hearing HB from CMs and guests who are paying attention, then don't make him wear it.

And if it will get weird for you hearing H Ann, it's OK to take the buttons off, too. :goodvibes Hubby wanted to wear his last September (our first day was exactly a month after our anniv) for the whole trip, and I took mine off at some point on the second or third day (which caused WEIRD looks).

Did you say this is your daughter's first trip, by the way? Be sure to get her a 1st Visit button, if that's so, b/c otherwise she might feel left out. :cutie:

We were just at CA on Monday, three days before my daughter's 6th birthday. Her actual birthday is a blockout day, so we of course got her a birthday button from City Hall. She was disappointed that her free tortillas were corn instead of flour as she won't eat the corn. But, she loved all the attention she received from the CMs and other guests. Several performers in the Pixar Play Parade even came up to her and said Happy Birthday or mouthed HB from their positions. Mr. Potato Head even came up and gave her a hug. Her big brothers were more than a little jealous! So definitely get that birthday button and have a wonderful trip!

They make corn tortillas there?????? We got flour. Weird!

It's my daughter and my nephews first time. He's 9 and I think he won't mind the birthday stuff for a little while, especially if he's getting free food LOL. Thanks for all the info, we will definitely check it out first thing!

they make both. Somedays they have both machines working, some days they have one or the other. We've had both flour and corn, they are both good. :)

OP make sure you get Anniversary buttons too, you get them at City Hall as well. :)

DH and I were in WDW and he got his birthday pin, and he wore it all week. Disney is just as happy to celebrate your un-birthday as your actual day and always happy to make the day special. Don't worry, no one will get mad if the button is worn and it's not your actual birthday day. You are there to celebrate the occasion.
