Special Fantasmic 20th anniversary showing for annual passholders

Hey, Everyone! We attended last night and it was a lot of fun! We watched the parade over by Pixie Hollow and made it over to the Rivers of America around 7:40 pm. I was surprised that there were people already marking their spots with blankets. We chose a spot and sat down. We did have to leave the area so they could make sure no one without a wristband entered, but our blanket held our spot. There were some people that attempted to squeeze into the area around us last minute, but a castmember asked them to find another spot as those of us there had been waiting for a long time.

When we checked in, we were given a sheet with info on where to find the merchandise, special food items, and a $20 off certain annual passports that day only.

Even though I am absolutely exhausted, I would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Last nights event was fantastic, and I am so glad we went! The special offerings were unique and all looked good (we only bought the blue drink and popcorn). People did start lining up at around 7, which I think is ridiculous! They had banners around the river as well as blow up classic mickeys with the 20th anniversary logo. We got there around 9:45 to claim a spot and we were front of te standing section, (one of the best spots imho). The show had a tribute in the beginning which was awesome to see! After the show we were able to walk on to Indiana jones as thunder mountain. We had a nice little surprise as we were leavin the park. This event was fantastic and I can't wait for more.

People are holding spots at 7:40 for an 11:30 show! Oh my.

I thought going to this F! would be less crowded than the show for the regular guests. I guess I am wrong.

Are there any "bad" viewing spots? Meaning if I show up at 11:00pm am I going to be able to see the show? I have never seen F! at DL only WDW.

How were the crowds? Were the CM's doing a good job about getting all the non-APer's out of the area? Which lands were open?

Can anyone buy the special event food offerings? I saw a scan of the menu that they are available starting at 4pm. I will be in the park on one of the event days and I desperately want to try a Mac and cheese hot dog.

It sounded like people had fun but for the life of me I cant really imagine sitting for the EXACT same show for hours on end just because it was its anniversary?

It doesnt sound like there were any change and some people waited 4-5 hours to watch the same show they been watching for 20 years already, that was played just that weekend and will play the next weekend just the same!

Dont get me wrong, I'm not knocking people for going, but I just dont get going just to sit for hours to watch a show most probably saw just a few days/weeks ago with no changes. I think going and watching it is fine naturally and I think spending an hour wait for it is reasonable, but I dont get the people who chose to go and camp out at 7 p.m. for it? Thats really strange to me but I guess these are the same people who has been camping out hours for it for the last 20 years! This is just their thing lol.

Just thought I would mention, anyone dreading the long drive home after this event, HoJo has the AP retro rate available the 21st and 22nd. I live just over an hour away and decided it was worth it to just get a room and drive home fresh the next day.

Thank you! We weren't able to take advantage of the event, because we leave Monday evening, but I would love to try some of the goodies before we go.
