Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued

Yes, the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff was out here too. The Halloween and Thanksgiving were all out 2 weeks ago when I was there and the Christmas stuff went out August 1. I asked one of the clerks and she said last year they waited until September for the Christmas stuff, but the protocol this year puts it out August 1 because the economy is so bad and their Christmas stuff sells the best. ... so they are giving us 5 months to buy it!!! I don't even want to think about buying Halloween stuff yet, let alone Christmas!!! The little dog statue dressed like a ghost was really cute though..Wish we had room to store that kind of stuff the other 11 months of the year!

We did do the Friday Fish fry last Friday... well, Joe had it, I had a BLT. I ate some of his fish though and it was pretty good. Maybe I'll try it this Friday... Johnny Rockets is good, but quite a drive for us just for burgers, we've got a 5Guys Burgers & Fries right across from the Cracker Barrel.... so that's where we usually go for the grease fest.

We went last week and only saw the Halloween Stuff. Here I thought that was awful!!! Now the Christmas stuff is out? WOW! Too Soon!

I think the real reason they put it out is just to sell the stuff earlier and earlier. Alas, I am one of those who wait until they start selling it for 30% off and more!

Truth be told, I could shop Christmas all year round! I'm ALWAYS at the Christmas store in the Disney Downtown Marketplace!

On past cruises there have been:
sailaway bubbles, leis, small flashlights for dark cabins at night, life savers, candles, pirate beads, glow bracelets, bookmarks... in general Oriental Trading stuff...

People have made these personal to the cruise with labels ex.) Special 5 Night Cruise... etc. Hope these help...

OK, I have spent the whole morning catching up on this tread - guess I will not get to other threads today . Scott said he was leaving it to me to respond to things, as he just skims the boards most of the time, and I read in a little more detail.

Happy Belated Birthday to Margaret and Joe!!!

Sharon - hope the thyroid problem works out - here is some for you!

We will be bringing Scott's bubba mug if it will fit - he had it on the Mexican Rivera cruise - but we are going to take only one checked bag each, so space will be at a premium.

Speaking of space, one advantage to packing those FE gifts is that you then have room to bring back all those FE gifts that you will get, and what you might buy!!!

The two new things at Palo's that we tried are lobster ravioli (fantastic) and the monkfish (also fantastic). I do not know if it is new, but the Passion Fruit Gelato was also fantastic. The Mango Gelato was almost as good! The chocolate souffle was, as always, fantastic.

I am going to wash clothes from the last cruise, and just repack them. That way I know everything will fit, and I will not have to dig anything new out of the closet

Welcome to the new cruisers! Yes, I am also excited that we have such a large group, lots of new folks to meet!

OK - time to get busy - still have alot of painting to do!!!

Welcome new cruisers!! This is going to be some cruise!!! Some of our peeps should be heading out very soon for their extended vacations and back to back cruises! We leave 3 weeks from Sat! Whoo hoo!!!!

We leave three weeks from today for a stay WDW before the cruise! We are getting very excited for the trip, but like another mentioned, also a little bittersweet to sense summer coming to a close before we know it. But we won't focus on that pesky detail - Disney here we come

You're right about the Friday fish. It is excellent!

Nice pictures!! Love the zoom!!! We haven't been there in a long time either.

Disneypindiva, have you tried the friday night fish at Cracker Barrel. I am not much of a fish lover - still learning - and I love that fish. It is different than the fish they do the rest of the week. Never have done a Johnny Rockets. I'll add that to my list!

Have you guys had any problems taking alcohol on board? I have never tried. Actually never thought about it until I heard the word rum!! I know they won't let you open what you purchase duty free on board. Just put it in your carry on or what?
