We drive, too, but our limit seems to be about 400 - 450 miles a day. Of course, we're 60, and you're young, so that will make a difference. We have found it's important to keep well hydrated, snack or a butterscotch when we get the "yawns" and stop at regular intervals for a little brisk walk. We take a cooler stocked with healthy food and water and only stop for a sit down meal at night.
Unfortunately the interstates where we can make the most time aren't very interesting, but they do have convenient hotels. We try to always stay at one of the Marriotts (pick your chain of choice) so I can call the rewards number and book when we figure out how far we're really going to go on a given day.
Good luck and have fun.
PS. My appliances of choice are a coffee pot and a fry pan. I can even make pizza in it, lol.
LindaBabe, thanks for the good advice. We will have plenty of water & food with us while we drive. I'll be bringing a large cooler hopefully filled with healthy snacks that our 3 hungry teens will eat.
Why do you bring a coffee maker? Do you not like the coffee makers at the WDW resorts?
This will be the longest road trip (and vacation) I've ever done. Planning on making day one the longest driving day. Then day two about 2-3 hours less and day three about 6-8 hours total driving time.
It's only October and our trip is not till June, but we're already excited and busy making plans for it.
