Now she was one scary nurse :scared1: !!!

Makes ya want to break a window.

Hey all..
Thank goodness Pete doesn't have any mean nurses like that! Today was a good day, he got out of bed and walked to the doorway and back. It was hard, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the last few days have been. Unfortunately he is still having a lung issue, they may want to put in a chest tube tomorrow. I have heard this is a miserable thing to have done, but I guess he has some fluid build up in his left lung that they have to get rid of. He is such a good patient though, hardly complains. Celeste, thanks for the advice.. I told him all the things you said, and he got a splint today because he was coughing. So I guess his nurses are pretty good. Ok.. I am off to bed. I will be back tomorrow!! ~~ Jenn

Now she was one scary nurse :scared1: !!!

I'm guessing this is the infamous Nurse Ratched??? I've never seen the movie, but from the hat (which gives me a rough time reference) and the following quotes- I'm guessing that is who she is. ;) I should rent the movie.

I never said I was going to punish my patients Bob, just men. One is not related to the other. Don't you know I'm a total  , when it comes to nursing???? Aren't all ICU nurses  ? In all truth, it took a LONG time to get used to doing things to people that you know would cause them pain. I guess I have taken comfort in knowing that most critically ill patients never remember being with us and we ONLY do such things with the hopes that it will make them better. I can honestly never done anything to hurt a patient. Doesn't mean that I haven't thought about pillow therapy on a time or two. :rolleyes1

Jenn...as jm says a chest tube will help Peters breathing. Hope tonight finds him comfortable. The trauma DR knows whats best for Peter..sharon

Hello everyone...
Well, the chest tube is in. He did fine, although he said it was a miserable procedure. It obviously needed to be done, he already has a liter and a half of fluid out of him. When I left he was totally wiped out, so I hope he is good in the morning. He walked this morning and took a shower. So it was a good day except for that. Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and cards. He was so excited when I showed up with 5 cards for him today! He was telling his nurses all about his Disney friends. So we so appreciate it all. Ok.. off to relax with my glass of wine! ~~~ Jenn

Pete and Jenn -

I don't know what made me open this thread tonight but I am so glad I did. I am so sorry to hear about Pete's accident and will say extra prayers for you and keep you both in my thoughts.

I'll keep checking in and checking up on you but most importantly take care of yourselves, rest and get well soon.

Sandy

Jenn,

Thanks for the Peter updates. You are both in our prayers.

I'm hoping his bed is by a window with a beautiful view of trees and their changing color leaves. :goodvibes

Here's to a good weekend. :lovestruc

Jenn - again, thanks for the update, hope you had a good glass of wine!!! We are thinking of you and Peter.

Jenn: Where can you send a card for Peter?

Jenn: Where can you send a card for Peter?

Just wondering the same thing-please let us know. The hospital mail room will be flooded!

Jenn,

So sorry to hear about Peter. Have the docs given you an idea when you can expect him to be home?

Let him know he's been added to my (unfortunately QUICKLY expanding) list of people who need prayers.

Cathy

Happy Friday everyone!
Pete had a bad day today, the chest tube is a miserable invention. I know it is doing him good, they took 2 liters of fluid off his lung. But he is in miserable pain from it. It seems to have slowed down, so I hope they will remove it soon since it has done its job. If anyone wants to send a card they can send it to our home and I will bring it in... Peter Rollins

He got 2 more today and even though he was miserable it made him smile! I so appreciate our DIS friends!! Thanks for all your support and prayers! ~~ JEnn
