attend a child's performance where the admission is non-perishable food items for a local shelter?

Being the Rec Director here, we have a summer full of events for families at our Rec Center, and we also have a local drop in center, with whom the director I am friends with.

Last year we had a kids concert with a VERY well known musician, and charged $3 plus a food item or $5.00 without per head, and collected a LOT of food for the center.

This year, we are having 4 dances, and 2 live UNH Theater troup performances on top of a large carnival, I'm thinking of "charging" food to get in....since we never charge a fee for the above things..

What do ya think?

Not a children's event, but I joined Curves, with the $74 start up fee waived, if I brought in a bag of food. Great deal for me and they had a lot of bags donated from others too!

I think it's a great idea! :D
