I'm saying this because it may be cheaper for those of us who do not have a national plan to just text message instead, I know for me , a phone call is .85 a minute versus .10 for text message sent and no charge for received text messages. What do you think?

huh??? I have an antique cell, I do not think it does messaging :(

I think my phone does but I don't know for sure. My plan let's me talk anywhere so I'm not worried about it but would be nice to know if those that don't have a national do have text messaging just in case.

I have text messaging on my phone, but I've never used it. I think that someone can use their computer to send me a text message.

I use a "pre-paid Free-Up" Verizon type phone. It costs $0.35 a minute, I think. I will have saved up over 300 minutes by DIS-Con-II...lol.

I would like to use a walkie-talkie, too.

Ray :)

I live in the stone age here - no cell phone no walkie talkies - just my prepaid calling card:D

No text messaging on my cell phone, either. Or if there is, I don't know how to use it! Right now, the darn phone is lost somewhere in this house! I better find it in the next 2 weeks!!:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

No text messaging on my phone either. It is a prepay phone, I just add time as I need it. It's a penny a minute for local and 2 cents a minute for long distance. I can alos use prepaid long distance cards with my phone so that's what I'll probably use for DISCON.

I have text messaging, but I've never used it and don't know how. Always willing to learn though. :teeth:

Ours have text messaging. We are on ATT, now the bad news, mine does not recieve text messaging at WDW.:( It works fine at MCO, but not at WDW. I was going to use it last year if DW and I went to different places at WDW. If we want to contact each other we will have to4 pay $0.69 per min each for roaming.

Yikes, Dave!

Can you switch to a "nationwide", "no roaming fees" plan within the next week ?

We can change, or just pay and call it vacation cost. We could also get the walkie talkies too. If we change plans and try to change back, the conditions change on our plans. Something we are planning on cheking into to.

Well , I can switch into a natiowide plan instantly if I want to but the problem is by doing that, I would enter into another "contract" with AT&T and that's something I want to avoid at all costs, so I will "pay" but will have the freedom to drop them whenever I want to without a penalty for cancellation.

I have text messaging, but it takes forever to type out a response on my phone keypad. I plan on saving up my minutes (I have a regional plan that includes FL) to use at DIS CON. :)

I have text messaging but am completely clueless abot it. (My cell phone is hardly used)

But I do have nationwide coverage so i am going able to get and make calls. It was a great way to find people last yer.

Quick funny...
Last January I planned to meet Dayna and her husband at MK. I get a call from her saying she was going to be late. She was stuck on the monorail! Came in real handy that day! I would have thought she stood me up! :eek:When they finally 'docked' she was able to find us where we were waiting. SO cell phones are a real help at Disney!

I'm suprised anyone's text messaging works at WDW, the cell phone service is horrible! I can't believe that a popular destination like that doesn't have a cell tower!

I would definitely be lost without my cell at WDW and UoF/IoA. Great for setting up last minute meets, calling about delays, impromptu PS's

I carry my cell phone but I don't use it unless there is some emergency. I don't fancy getting a phone call in the middle of space mountain :)

I hope cell phone works at WDW.

Seems like they could put one up on the WDW tower hotels next to WDW Downtown Market Place, or on top of the WDW Contemporary Resort.

That's a good idea, Dan.

Especially priority seatings.

Ray :)
