So we got our cat Zelda spayed in June or July, she's big girl (I think she was 11 lbs when she had her surgery) you know how its shaved well where her surgery happened it looked almost like lump at the top of the incision. I figured it would go away and really forgot about it.

Well I was rubbing her belly the other day (She wanted me to...she really is the best kitty ever) and I noticed the lump was still there. Is this common? Should it be gone? Do I need to call the vet? She's not in pain, she let's me rub the spot without any issues at all.

I'm gonna google some more but was hoping someone here might have an idea.

This is my silly kitty, Zelda or Z as we call her

Does she like donuts? :lmao:

Is the lump above the incision or along the incision?

How big is it? How raised is it? Has it gotten bigger or smaller since the surgery?

If its not bothering her I see no reason to rush her to the vet. Maybe you could take a picture of it and email it to them or just call them.

Things that come to mind off the top of my head are - scar tissue along the incision or a hernia. Really need to see it I guess.

Pretty cat!

Pretty cat!

When she was shaved it was towards the top but now she's furry so I can't really tell. I'd guess it's about an inch long. I'm not real sure if its bigger or smaller. It is solid but not rock hard, but not squishy either.

I'd take a picture but I fear you can't really see anything because of the fur.

Could she have a keloid scar? I wonder it cats can get that? Hmm..... I would check with your vet, but the good thing it obviously is not an infection and its not bothering her. Good luck with her. She's very pretty.

I would call the vet and see if they think it is important enough to take her in. It would drive me crazy not knowing what it is to wait, though. Is she mabye due for a shot or something so that you can combine a visit fee?

Pretty kitteh. Guard those donuts!

Thanks ladies! I think I'll call just to see what they say.

She's a funny kitty, my first kitty (we have 6 now :lmao: )

I love that picture to me it looks like she is laughing her tail off.

We had that with a new puppy that had be spayed by the person we bought her from. Had to have her re operated on to get it fixed. Bad job by owners Vet.

Soft kitty,
Warm kitty,
Little ball of fur.
Happy kitty,
Sleepy kitty,
Purr, purr, purr

Sorry couldn't resist:thumbsup2

My dog had this. Turned out that the vet who did the surgery had left a sponge inside during the surgery.

My cat had that and I took her to the emergency vet and they said it was nothing to be concerned about. That was 10 years ago, and her stomach still sags a bit.

If she is eating, peeing, pooping, and otherwise acting fine, she is probably okay. How long ago was the surgery done? May just be an irritation from the internal stitches.

BUT, that being said, I would still call the vet and run it by them:thumbsup2 Better safe than sorry!

You said the cat was spayed in June or July

It is now Dec. If the cat is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping and otherwise acting completely normal...then I would not worry about it. It very well is probably some scar tissue.

Next time she goes to the Vet...try to remember to show it too them.
I used to work at a Vet Hospital...we used to see this happen sometimes
