I am a long time Dis'er but just found my way to this board. What a wonderful support for my journey to a healthier, thinner, more active me! I am using the plan and resources at Sparkpeople.com. Are there any other Sparkpeople here?:flower3:

Hello! I am a Sparkpeople person. My id there is 1313harbor. My friends on the BL challenge refer to me as Sparky 'cause I'm always posting links to Sparkpeople information. I absolutely love the WISH'ers. This is a very supportive, active group and I credit WISH with my continuing success toward a healthier lifestyle -- one that has worked and is sticking with me! :thumbsup2 Good luck! :flower3:

I haven't used Spark in a while, but I did use it a couple of years ago and it really helped me. The biggest help was the calorie tracker. Calculating my meals every day inspired me to keep going when I was under my calorie requirements, and the action of inputting my meals kept me focused on eating well. I had gotten to a weight I was not happy with, and felt unwell from it. I started using it in the beginning of the summer, and by the end of the summer I had lost 30 lbs and was down to a healthy weight. Needed a we hole new wardrobe too which was fun :goodvibes. I have been able to keep it off since as well, thanks to keeping up healthy eating habits.

Not trying to sound like an advertisement. Just think its a really great site, and that you might like to know that it really does work if you stick with it. Good luck with your journey :).

Wow! I just came across this thread. I've been on WISH for awhile now and have seen SparkPeople mentioned a few times but didn't actually check it out until now. It's amazing! I signed up and I'm going to use it to track my food and exercise. I already spend too much time on DISboards so I likely won't use the chat and groups features. You are all right, it is a great site! Thanks!

I like the site very much-I also bought the book as well. It is nice to have something that helps with weight loss that is free instead of paying someone to tell you how to lose weight. I am new to these boards but feel this will be a frequent stop for me besides the DISabilities board (autistic son). It is so nice to have support and get ideas of weight loss. I love working out at home and use many dvds for good health. We just got back from DL and a Disney cruise to Alaska and my dh lost 10 pounds just by eating sensibly. Believe me, we ate dessert at Palo! My clothes feel okay but we are planning a trip to Aulani next summer so that gives me a year to get most of my weight off. Sorry for the long post-let me know if you want to talk about home videos-I might join the gym with my husband but like exercising in private too much to give up my vids.
Take care-Elizabeth

I like using SP too. (TigerLily03)). I find that once I have set it up for my favorite foods that counting from there has been such wonderful help. At one time there was a WISH team/group there. Kind of fell off, but using the site to help count has truly made things easier.

I'm a SparkPerson :) I just started using the site 2 weeks and 2 days ago (to be specific, lol). I've lost 9 pounds!!! I've been inputting everything I eat and it is VERY helpful to "get real" with my food. I'm not following their mail plan but I am using their information to put together my own.

I had looked into SparkPeople about a year and a half ago but didn't give it a chance. Boy, do I wish now that I had! I could have been at my goal weight a long time ago.:headache:

Congratulations on your success so far! :cool1: And don't worry about what could have been and concentrate on what is -- you're doing great! :flower3:

There was a DisBoards team on the Sparkpeople site that seems to be inactive. If anyone would be interested, I would offer to be team leader for that team. I find the community support there to be a really big help in keeping myself on track, and it's always nice to meet fellow Dis'ers!

I used to host that sparkpeople group but had a very hard time keeping it going; people just lost interest and I wasn't sure what to do to revive it. :( If you want to pick up where it left off, I think I can "invite" you to co-host it and then you can take it from there. I would love to have that additional resource and would be an active member of the group as long as it was going. :)

I joined Sparkpeople a while ago but did not whole heartedly use the resources. I started up again this past Monday and got my Husband to set up an account so we can lose weight together. I am only using the nutrition and fitness tracker now. I guess I should check the other stuff out. :)

I just recently rejoined SP. When I use it, it really helps to keep me motivated! My SN is mikkishelles. I have rededicated myself to not only eating healthy, but keeping some form of activity in every day. I would love to be part of the DIS Sparkers!! :cheer2:

I am rejoining Sparkpeople as well-it really keeps you on track. I need to read through the website like I do with the Disney Boards. Let's keep each other motivated-I am also KYLMAC on that sight as well.
Take care-Elizabeth
