Spaceship Earth Closing for refurb 25th August

I will say when we rode in May it was feeling a bit long in the tooth and we had an extended pause on the descent (that didn’t feel like the typical omnimover pause for a transfer). On a previous Epcot day in the trip it had some extended downtime too. Still fun but definitely needs some maintenance. I just feel bad for people who will miss out on it. My holiday weekend trip next week is really feeling like a “do it while you can” thing though between this, the impending Buzz closure, and Rivers of America’s last day being when I go home.

Dang! This is one reason why I prefer going in December. Disney rarely takes down rides during the holiday season unless it's an ongoing refurb. It seems like they strive to get them open by then, perhaps with the exception of KRR, most attractions are up and running. Is September generally the usual time for renovations other than January?

Is September generally as bad as January for renovations?
Not really tbh. January is the typical time for extended refurbs to start. August thru September is firmly shoulder season though so probably an optimal time for it from Disney’s perspective. July is also much slower than it used to be, for the past few years (summer had been trending downward since before covid hit).

Just seen the above will be closed for refurbishment, no reopening date as yet, only later in the year. Hope it’s not too long. Going in September, already be missing a few things.
Traveling to disney at Christmas time and always loved Spaceship Earth, I hope they reopen by then

They need to fix the descent part. That video that plays is so dumb and doesn’t really add much to the experience at all. It used to be better now it’s just a low value screen show

I’ll add that I hope (but highly highly doubt) that the narrator changes. I live Judi Dench but I’m ready for someone new to narrate (favorite was Jeremy Irons)!

Typical Disney. Happy for Test Track and then disappointment bus rolls on by.
“Disappointment bus,”lol! Here was our literal disappointment bus experience: Our kids were little, probably about 7 and 4, and we were on the Magical Express (RIP) back to the airport. The video on playing on the bus screens were “what to expect on your Disney cruise!” My kids didn’t know anything about a cruise at all prior to that bus ride, but started going on about how fun it looked and why didn’t we do any of that fun stuff?! After spending a lot of money and planning what I thought was an amazing week at Disney I was not amused😆

How can it be so dumb when you and your companion are the main characters in the clip?

The video is beyond outdated. The camera somehow seems to miss me every time. I will say the most amusing thing about it is how ridiculous you look in it😂

Same here, it misses my kids everytime or gets a bad picture of them.

Easy, the camera doesn’t pick up my kids most of the time so I have to sit there and explain why their pictures aren’t included

There are several. And there's at least one side by side by side of 1, 2, and 3, but the one I saw was poorly synced and they had all the audio playing.
Thanks, I did manage to find them and frankly, I'm not impressed. Than again, they never seem to consult me when they make changes. If that doesn't change soon my feelings are going to be hurt. It won't improve until they bring back the World of Motion.

That could easily have been because some huge brained individual tried to get out, stood up or did some other stupid thing or some type of medical situation. Anything other than that would have required evacuation.
