Spaceship Earth Closing for refurb 25th August

I will say when we rode in May it was feeling a bit long in the tooth and we had an extended pause on the descent (that didn’t feel like the typical omnimover pause for a transfer). On a previous Epcot day in the trip it had some extended downtime too. Still fun but definitely needs some maintenance. I just feel bad for people who will miss out on it. My holiday weekend trip next week is really feeling like a “do it while you can” thing though between this, the impending Buzz closure, and Rivers of America’s last day being when I go home.

Dang! This is one reason why I prefer going in December. Disney rarely takes down rides during the holiday season unless it's an ongoing refurb. It seems like they strive to get them open by then, perhaps with the exception of KRR, most attractions are up and running. Is September generally the usual time for renovations other than January?

Is September generally as bad as January for renovations?
Not really tbh. January is the typical time for extended refurbs to start. August thru September is firmly shoulder season though so probably an optimal time for it from Disney’s perspective. July is also much slower than it used to be, for the past few years (summer had been trending downward since before covid hit).

Just seen the above will be closed for refurbishment, no reopening date as yet, only later in the year. Hope it’s not too long. Going in September, already be missing a few things.
Traveling to disney at Christmas time and always loved Spaceship Earth, I hope they reopen by then
