It could be just a rumor... But I heard that they are thinking about redoing Space Mountain to make it go upside down...

I know they are doing that in Disney Land, and I really hope they are thinking about it for WDW. The ride is pretty old...

Can anyone confirm this?????::MickeyMo

Honestly, I'd love that - but I don't know that they could fit a loop inside the current building. I guess they'd have to change the whole look of the building.

I kind of like it the way it is, though.

you know, last year i swear SM was down for work while we were there, we saw people with welding equipment when we went through on the TTA! maybe they were just repairing it, i thought they were refurbing it. does anyone know the last time SM had major rehab?

If they did anything like "adding a loop", it would require
a complete removal of the existing coaster, and building
a new one. I doubt this is the case.

As far as I know, the SM in Disneyland will be basically
the same track as the orginial, no loop(s) included.

Major rehab of SM was when the Fed-X took over from RCA this is just a guess.:confused: ::yes:: :wave2:

DL's Space Mountain will have the same track configuration as before, but the track will be much heavier--no loop or any other inversion manuever being added. There will be new special effects and a redone loading area, though.

If they do, I hope they wait until after December!! I would be majorly bummed if it was closed while we were there! Ugh!

I want Space Mountain to stay the way it is forever and ever! ;) But the turn onto the lift hill really could use some work. That jerk is just uncomfortable.

Isn't a soundtrack part of the DL renovation?

Yes, Space Mountain at DL is getting a new soundtrack as well. I like the old Dick Dale one a lot, but the speakers rarely worked so there were not many rides where I actually heard the music.

If they want an inverted coaster I would rather they just build a new one somewhere and leave space mountain as is. Aside from sentimentality, the coaster as is has only a 44" height limit so that younger kids can get on and experience a coaster. If they put on an inversion the limit would surely go to at least 48" eliminating many children who want to go.

The original SM soundtrack rocks! I wish you could hear it at WDW! It is DS's favorite on one of my old Official Album tapes. Have never been on SM with the music but think it would really enhance the experience!:wave2:

When the speakers worked, the ride was awesome. The music just fit the ride perfectly.
