Is the girl on the rights paternity in question? Because I'm thinking Jordan may be her father.......

 I think you might be on to something here!!! Mmmm, hmmm, Mmm, hmm. ::yes::  Just kidding Jordy!
You know....I don't think Jordy reads this thread. Oh well, Winkers and I get it!.

Shannon - your kids are so cute! The pictures with Treyner are adorable, made me want to jump in the picture and smoosh them all up!

Dawn - LOVE the pictures of Carsyn, she is so bloomin' pretty! And of course I can imagine Baylor as a Casanova!

Hope Baylor had a very Happy Birthday :cake:

A quick question did you used to post on a weight loss thread a few years ago which was run by Utah Mama? It just came to me that I may know you from that :confused3

Nope - you are right! I remembered you - that is why I said way back when you first posted that I was mad we were both there but I had not seen you in Dec! :goodvibes

Hi, Dawn! I just have to say that those pictures of your children are so cute. Beautiful, all three of them, even if two of them are boys. Moms can say beautiful for both genders. You just can't say it to their face! ;)

This one is of the kids and their Great Grandma in Iowa. I adore her and even though she has no memory of people any longer...she smiles like she does. Which makes me wonder if in her head she is like..."WTH are all these people bringing me gifts and taking their pics with me. Do they think I am famous? Oh well...if I don't tell them than at least I can keep the cr@p." :lmao:

This made made me laugh out loud! My mom works in a Nursing home and she is always telling us about this sweet little old lady who never says a harsh word to anyone except when her daughter leaves from visiting each afternoon...always the same reaction...."Don't know who the he!! that was but it was nice of her to bring me chocolates!"

Great pictures. I am glad that Treyner is getting settled:thumbsup2

Yay, I'm all caught up! You may continue now. ;)
Will get to that finally today! :thumbsup2

I used to take care of older people doing home health services and there was one guy named Don that I will never forget. He had alzheimer's in the middle stages and sometimes he would have brief moments of knowing what was going on.

One of my responsibilities was to shower him and he was a big guy and struggled with me so I always ended up wetter than him. I talked with my supervisor and his wife and it was decided I would just shower him wearing a swimsuit and shorts. That way when I was done I was not in wet clothes for 6 more hours.

Well one day, Don "came to" in the middle of a shower. All of a sudden his eyes blinked (they were a brilliant blue and he had this head of silver hair that women at the care center ooohhed and ahhhed over) and he stared at me through the water I was pouring over his head to wash his hair and said really soft, "Does my wife know you are doing this?"

I said, "Yes Don. In fact she asked me to." (Meaning washing his hair etc.)

He says, "Well wth did she not authorize girls in swimsuits scrubbing me naked years ago when I could remember?" :confused3:rotfl2::lmao:

I laughed so hard I almost tinkled and we shared about 10 minutes of his life with full knowledge of what was going on. I called his wife to come in the bathroom and she sat on the toilet while I was finishing showering him. That truly is a memory I will never forget and a man to this day I adore more than any movie star. It showed me a glimpse of the Don his wife fell in love with and she was one lucky woman. :lovestruc

Great pictures. I am glad that Treyner is getting settled:thumbsup2

Me too...update in a bit!

Hi Dawn-
Just wanted to let you know that I have been lurking (not stalking) for the last few weeks and I am finally all caught up to the end. Your writing style is great (you really should look into writing a "Disney from Dawn's View" travel book! I am with everyone else- laughing, crying, etc. Your family is great. I look forward to more!!!:thumbsup2

I might owe you some money if I do a book! Love that title! Can I get any of you to purchase advance copies?! :lmao: You are so kind!

I am sorry I have been awol. I had a bunch of Silpada work this weekend and then needing to get medical bills/EOB's matched for all of Baylor's garbage. Enough to make me want to choke myself. HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!

Then there was some last minute snaffu's for Treyner. Everything is fine now. Nothing a $600 per month check won't cover from here until April!

Ohhh...and we are thinking of Hilton Head for spring break at DHH. Dan can get 40% off a 2 bedroom so it is a good deal. I know it is only usually 70 degrees for a high and the ocean will be cool but we have frozen before in the water! I will let you know!

First off God Bless you for doing that work. That was a beautiful story .:goodvibesMy Mom had alzheimer and I took care of her until the end.The last 13 mths of her life I had Hospice come in to help me and they bathed her which was SUCH a relief to me.She once told the CNA...Didn't they tell you I don't take baths in the winter!

Dawn!
How the heck are ya?!? The old timers story is classic!!! I knew there were a few reasons why I fell head over heels for ya as a new friend. :goodvibes
I love the older generation too. If you put me in a room with 8 and 9 year olds, I wouldn't know beyond keeping them in line what to do with them. Put me in a room full of 80 and 90 year olds any day and I'm in my glory!! :goodvibes I use to volunteer for an organization out here called Caregivers, they're an organization that helps the elderly who are cognizant enough to take care of themselves, but aren't allowed to drive any more. This organization was for the most part the last link for many between being in nursing homes and being able to take care of themselves. Any who, I would get calls from time to time about the elderly needing a ride to an Dr.'s apt, or go grocery shopping, and I loved it!! I loved being able to talk with them, they're like walking history books. :goodvibes Full of wisdom about things we have yet to figure out. :teacher:
Sorry to hear about the $600 a month for school, I hope that's not on top of other expenses. :scared1: I thought he received a scholarship, or was that the last school?!? Crazy.

Baloo, I'm so sorry for your mama's loss. It's so good of you to take care of her like you did, not everyone can or will give such a blessing. We all should give that of ourselves, but I'm realistic enough to know it's not always possible.

Dawn, I hope that your party's went well over the weekend. You'll have to let Gellybean and I know what you need to get a party going for you here, that is if you still want to have one when you come out. I still have the silly jewelry tree that I need to send to you!! Shoot the way it's going, I may as well keep the darn thing and give it to you when you get here.

Ya know how they have the books..."Kis's Say the Darndest Things!" Well I think they should have one for people with memory loss or traumatic brain injuries! I had a friend in college who got ina bad accident in the winter with a semi and she was never the same as before.

I loved visiting her on the hospital floor she was on because you never knew who was going to yell out, "Hi M- fer," or "Nice h00ters," or anything else that a brain not damaged would cause them to filter.

Nicole and I were at Target in Omaha one day and in line to pay for things. Tons of people around us and all of a sudden she blurts out, "I miss sex!" I was dying inside and laughing at her because she looked at me like, "Well I do," and no different than if she would have said, "I miss chicken nuggets."

There was a little old lady behind us who looked shocked, I turned to her and said, "You have to understand my friend had a traumatic brain injury and is working on word control."

She nodded in understanding, then leaned in to talk to Nicole more discretely and said, "I miss it too and wish I had the guts to tell the world." :scared1::lmao::rotfl2::thumbsup2

You just never know how your life will be altered on any given day ya know!

Sorry about your mom but I am glad she brought you some sunshine even in the darkness.

Dawn!
How the heck are ya?!?

I will be back later and do a new chapter and get somewhat caught up...Treyner got scholarships totalling $4,000 for his being an out of state student and a transfer student but it still was short and Chad and I decided since it was a lesser amount he was short compared to teh last school, instead of taking out a parent loan, we would just pay as we went. Treyner also got grants and loans in his own name of course.

Next year will be the year his full ride would start. Hopefully at Anderson or if things do not work well there, at a NAIA school in the midwest for sure.

At Anderson they had 2 boys come to the states to play soccer from Norway. First thing they did was get a tv and a x box. They were at a GPA of .08 and 1.12. Coach wants to throttle them I guess because now they are not elligible to play spring soccer!

I do not understand how it is possible to screw up that bad! Esp. if you have a lot riding on it.

I think the biggest problem some kids have is when they have controlling parents who never let them make choices or mistakes and then they get to college with all this freedom they do not know what to do with, they are destined for problems.

Treyner had freedom of bedtime and quite a bit his senior year. he practised soccer late night and often was not home till 11 p.m. from that. He suffered the consequences for those choices, had to negotiate better time management and now, pretty much has his stuff together about most parts of college. He did okay his first semester but needs to step it up this semester. Confidence is his downfall. He assumes he can get caught up quicker than he can with reading usually.

Nobody is prepared for how much homework is in college but if they have that to figure out how to manage and balance eating well, sleeping well, partying and friends, freedom of time etc., ....I think it putting a kid into a firestorm.

Hey girlfriend! I'm glad Treyner's getting settled. I hope he loves it and works hard! When you have a chance, would you send me his mailing address? Lily drew him a picture and she wants to mail it to him.

My next update (in my TR) will be about y'all so make sure you come and jump in!

I love these stories, and the ones about the kids, as much as I love your TR posts. Keep 'em coming!

Sorry I have been MIA. Work has been crazy and it's only going to get worse for the next couple of weeks. Auditions are here! Which really means I spend a lot of time calming actors down and then calming the artistic staff down. Thank goodness this only happens once a year!

I'm glad Treynor is settling in at school. I have my fingers crossed that THIS is the right school and everything works out. Of course, I also need him to start playing professionally so that A)he can keep you in the lifestyle to which you can easily become accustomed to and B) he can introduce his new best friend Stacy to hot soccer players. God knows I'm not getting any younger and if I'm going to get that Disney wedding, it better be BEFORE I look like the Fairy Godmother instead of a Princess.

And I haven't forgotten about your PM. I promise to get to it this weekend!

Oh, and update please? Or at least more stories. It makes my 5 minutes of downtime at work worth it!

I have not been here on the Dis at all in a week almost I would bet besides popping in here. I need to kick out at least one chapter today if not more than that. All the stuff with Baylor is starting to come to a head and I am swamped getting paperwork together to get hard numbers for the amount we have paid out, amount I lost in work, all the parking fees at the hospital, food costs for me OOP at the hospital, medicine charges, school expenses etc. Literally everything I spent or did not spend and damage that has been done since Baylor's accident or that has a direct link to Baylor's accident. More than I can get into here but the long term affects of this are reaching Treyner and will for Carsyn in college because of how much medical debt is in my name now until the insurance companies fight it out.

I am not going to let this get me down though and thus Chad and I are making arangements to make the best out of a bad situation for Treyner this year and will for Carsyn as well. I will not lay down and cry and give up. That is not me. I am a fighter and always have been and if I have to make the best out of a cruddy situation I will.

Even when things are not your fault and there is nothing you could have done different, life still stinks. It's just a matter of being resiliant, making the best choice with what you are given and finding a way to make it happen.

One thing I cannot stand is quitters. People who whine and crab and moan about how life handed them a bad deal and instead of figuring out a way around the mountain, they just stand before it and kick at it, suprised when the next day the mountain is still in their way. Then those same people, will sit and complain and crab and moan about the people who chose to go around the mountain and the success they have.

Life is not fair. To anyone. You make your life what you want out of it. If you are in a place to feel sorry for yourself and blame everything and everyone around you for your happiness, unhappiness, success, failures, highs and lows, kick it to the curb becausethe truth is in the mirror. The truth is you are the only one to blame or praise for your contentment in your life.

Can you tell I am on fire this morning! Can I hear an Amen my brothers and sisters! ;)

I just have been surrounded lately by people who do not want to fix their lives, they want to drown in their cr@p and suck you in with them.

Well guess what. If you take me in your quicksand, I will climb you like a freakin monkey and jump off your head onto dry ground. If you want help, I will show you the way but I am not going to do it for you. If that means you choose to stay stuck, tough cr@p. Not mine to own, not mine to fix.

I had a friend who had a car that had this annoying rattling sound when she drove, come up from under the hood. I bet you that it went on for almost 6 months. She complained, I suggested mechanics I knew, she complained, I asked if she called the mechanics, she complained, I said I am not riding in your car anymore because I hate hearing you bi@ch non stop over something you want to do nothing about.

So guess what, almost a year later, she broke down on the freeway and was all aghast over how bad her luck is and how she can't believe how cr@ppy her life is compared to others and how not fair things are blah blah blah.

Turns out that rattle she ignored forever was a huge signal of a bigger problem. I told her she should be happy because I was.

She was mad and asked why would I be happy she had car problems.

I said, "You have had car problems for a year. That is not new. What is new and what I am happy about is this problem is different from the rattling so now at least you have something new to complain about and I do not have to hear about the rattling again." :rotfl2:

She did not appreciate my humor. Most people don't. :rolleyes1

Okay - off the soap box and onto the chapter mode!:yay:

I love these stories, and the ones about the kids, as much as I love your TR posts. Keep 'em coming!

I will do so right away!:3dglasses
