Space Mountain being changed?!?!?!!!!

I rode SM for the first time last September, and I found it very jerky... I think a rehab would be a good idea

Heard on the rumor section on WDWRadio that it looks like it might be going down in January for around 10 months.

Eak! What? I havn't heard this. Sigh, we are going January 8th-15th. Life will go on, but my Fiance' (will be husband by then! :cool1: ) has never been on a roller coster. Oh well...

As for Space Mountain getting a little facelift...I don't think that would be a horrible thing. It was niver my favorite, and it would be cool to put in some more up to date technology. The one in Disneyland sounds cool.

there's still big thunder mountain and rockin roller coaster :D

I'm a coaster-chicken but DS convinced me that I would love SM at DLR a few years back. He was right - I loved it! No drops but lots of twists and turns.

I haven't been on SM at MK in years, but I seem to remember more drops so I've been chicken to go back on it. Can someone clarify for me that SM in MK does have drops or is it just my imagination. We're leaving in three weeks (yay!) and I might try to work up the courage to try the MK one again :)

OP -> For someone that thinks that they are a Disney Expert you really do not sound like one. Disney is a family, fun place and you used the "F" word. seriously.

I have to say that I like the DLR version better than the WDW version. The soundtrack was excellent... I was there in Oct.... and the loading area was more friendly for those guests in wheelchairs. The rockets actually can be offloaded so that guests with disabilities can be comfortably loaded with no delays for the other rockets... I thought it was very cool!
I don't think the changes take away the original SM theming, etc.... and I've been going to WDW regularly for 30+ years

Oh, and if you take carousel of progress out there will be NO forgiveness and absolutely NO pity whatsoever given to for taking/changing these wonderful attractions that were meant to stay with disney world until it closes. Walt would be so ashamed of everyone who wants it changed and i believe the way he wanted it is the way it should be, becuase he knew what is best and you OBVIOUSLY DON'T!!!!!:headache: :headache: :headache:

Sorry but Disneyland had many attractions that came and went in Disneyland while Walt was still alive -- So I don't think that he envisioned anything to stay status quo forever.

I am not disagreeing with your feeling about SM or COP just the fact you try and Bring Uncle Walt into the argument.

Didn't Walt say Keep Moving Forward?

Anyway I have friends that have been on the one in California and Paris and now refuse to ride space in WDW until it's re done. It's time.

I love Space Mountain, but like everything else, it needs some updating once in a while. I doubt that the ride "experience" will change too much, but hopefully it'll be a bit smoother.

We went to DL this Spring.. Space Mountain in DL is WAY better than the old version at WDW. I think an upgrade is what is needed. The only downside(other than the Space Mountain being closed for rehab) is that it will make Space Mountain even MORE popular..:cutie:

Just going along with the crowd here. :rolleyes1 DL's Space Mountain, is so much smoother, faster (at least it feels that way) and FUNNER  than WDW's! It's about time they refurb the one at WDW.

And since when is "upbeat" a bad thing, when you're talking about a ride that was never exactly depressing or scary? :confused3

IT NEEDS TO BE REFURBED.....HOPE IT GETS DONE SOON!:cool1:

Eh, Space Mountain is okay, but it's not one of my favorites as it is. I, for one, would be fine with some changes. I haven't been to DL, but their version sounds interesting.

The SM in Paris is the same ride track as Rockin' Roller Coaster, so I don't see them making it like the DLRP version. The Disneyland (California) version is very smooth and feels more roller coaster-y than the way WDW is now... that being said, I like the way the WDW one is now, I like the jerkyness and the overall feel of it :)

My family thinks SM at WDW is awful. We ride it once each trip with FP, and usually wonder why we bothered. SM at DL rocks !

To be fair we like WDW's other mountains better.

I feel better seeing how many Disers love the one in Disneyland in case the refurb does happen. :) I had no idea it had so many people that loved it!
