Space Mountain at 42 inches?

We are going to WDW 12/12. My daughter who is almost four is 42 inches before shoes. What are the chances she can ride Space Mountain? How strict is the height requirement?

probably slim to none....they will measure her at the entrance of the ride and at several points along it to make sure she hasn't slipped past anyone. my little guy is quite short and can't ride a lot of the big thrill rides. dd is 40 plus and at test tract and tower of terror on the last 2 trips was measured numerous times. they are pretty savy at catching the kids going in to keep them safe.

im sure this is about to open up a whole thread of ppl mentioning wheelies and plumping up hair.

I wouldn't bet on it. In my experience they are strict so I would prepare her upfront that it might be a 'no' response.

They've very strict. Not the minimum requirement, won't be able to ride.

As the PPs stated, there's no chance. Our youngest DD sprouted to just over 40" for our trip this past March, and they checked multiple times for 40" rides like Splash Mt. and BTMRR.

for a cast member to knowingly allow a guest below the height requirement to ride is a terminable offense. that's how strict it is.

I agree with everyone here. my son was barely 40 inches last October and they checked him twice on almost every ride with that height requirement

Ditto in September. The WORST part was that she was tall enough on some (by like an inch) and some they said no.

Also they said no at Splash Mountain ~ we went and rode BTRRM and back to Splash and then they said yes.

Thing is she was clearly tall enough and should not have been turned away at Splash OR Dinosaur. Though they called a manager at Dinosaur (not at my request at another mother's request who had the SAME situation) and the manager said "No way, not even close"

A friend of mine said they put Gatorade caps in her son's shoes so he could ride some of the rides! LOL! I've never tried it though! My son's right at 43 inches and we're going in Dec.; I would love for him to ride Space, Mt. but it's not going to happen this trip. Good luck!

AS others have mentioned , the height requirement is 44 inches for Space Mountain.Chances are SLIM to NONE that your child will get on.They measure multiple times along the way,any chance or doubt and the CM will not allow the child to ride.

Hmmm...she may grow a bit between now and then. In sneakers she's 43 or so now...so you never know..but I doubt it - I would prepare her for not being able to ride.
Becky's doctor says she's 47"...my measurements at home using a level and tape measure comes to 47 1/2"...at Disney in her regular sneakers, she blew past the 48" marker an had no problem riding RnRC and Primevil Whirl....but that's with my estimation having her 1/2 inch too short...2 inches is a whole other story...

Two inches too short? Not a chance. Don't even try, don't get her hopes up. Prepare her for the FACT that she won't be permitted in Space Mountain. Sorry.

I am bringing my DD in May who will be 4 but i can't even imagine her riding some of these rides that are being mentioned in this thread...aren't the kids scared to death of them?

Mine aren't ~ but I really think it depends on the kiddo.

Mine love them the faster, the scarier, the taller the better.

My DD5 has love ToT as her favorite ride since before turning three.... now though SM is her new fav as she is finally tall enough to ride it. The time between 40-44" was TOO long for her liking!

no, why would they be scared of them? They are lots of fun and there are tons of young children on them every day with huge grins on their faces.

^^ This is how my kids are too. I have a feeling once they are all over the 54" mark, we'll have to start making some trips to thrill ride theme parks.

DD7 rode Space Mountain for the first time during our last trip. She's 44" and loved it, but said it was a little rough on her neck, but couldn't wait to do it again. .
