Anyone know where I can find info about spa treatments at SSR? Such as specific treatments and prices? TIA

yes, the DVC member website. it is under just for members, then under member perks.

Here are Saratoga Springs Spa!

After the "grueling" Segways, we ladies needed massages. I had been given a gift certificate from a friend for whom I planned their Disney vacation...I Love My Friends! It was a little bit of a trick to find the spa since the maps didn't seem to match the buildings, but once we did....aahh...it really is a lovely spa and not sterile feeling at all. We were taken to the dressing room and given our keys to the lockers and a waffle robe and knobby slippers. All 3 of our appointments were for the same time. I was given Natalie as my masseuse and she was wonderful! The table was cushy and the room was big and softly lit. I chose my aroma oils and let her do her magic. I don't like to talk during a massage and she caught on to that quickly and let me indulge in the sensory pleasure of the massage and the aroma.

Amy said she also enjoyed her massage.

Now, Martha who says "why do I always get the weird ones???"... Her masseuse twisted her into a pretzel and told her she had tensions in her head and proceeded to relieve it by PULLING HER HAIR! Poor Martha...she does always get the weird ones.

Martha and Amy left to shop at DTD and I stayed on to get a Peppermint Pig Pedicure. I was left in the serene lounging area with my water and fruit until time for the pedi. Now this was a co-ed lounge and I am a little uncomfortable in my robe with NO underwear. I know the men are not paying one bit of attention to me, but it is still in the back of my mind that I could move the wrong way and give them a view that could scar them for life! I was still uncomfotable in the pedi room, even though it was just women...I wanted my panties! Pleez...legs bent, with the poor gal working on my feet...she probably would have went and got my undies for me! It was different than any pedi I have had...not as good as some, but better than most. I really liked the leg scrub with brown sugar oils and the masque. My feet felt totally revived and ready to carry my weight again!

Here are some of the spa photos...

some photos I took while we were there.

I guess somebody is going to have to guide me through the IMG thing again. I haven't posted in awhile and I think I have lost what little ability I had. Sorry there are no pictures here for now. If you look under my user name and go to my trip report "6 Quack Pots" you will find the photos.

When we were at SSR in Dec. my best friend and I visited the spa and I must say we were both disapointed. While we are not spa regulars, we both have been to other resort spas and this one while nice enough, had several features that were major disapointments. First I had just had knee surgery a few weeks prior and stairs were a bit of a problem, the elevator is not really part of the spa, but they did show us how to get to them, getting back up requires staff assistance through locked doors and a trip thru the linen closet/hallway. Next we noticed that the robes are best suited for women of medium and small builds. The plus size gals are given a HUGE (as in a 2x women looks like she's drowning) in the men's robe and we were told that getting one required a call upstairs to the desk and someone brings them down. Now while the staff was very nice and our massages were good, they were not worth the $300 plus we each spent to get them (a message and facial each). We quickly determined that this is probably not the way we would want to spend our time and money the next trip. We were not upset, just disappointed in the experience. One other note, when I attempted to pay with my Visa Rewards, they informed me that they do no accept Disney Rewards which was fine, I just charged it and earned more points, however it could be upsetting if this is how you wanted to "reward" yourself with an expensive treat.

No Rewards Card can be used? I'm glad I'm reading about this now. We are going with another couple for both couples 15th Anniversary Celebrations in May. We ladies have been planning to use our rewards for just this purpose, at the Spa. This is rather disappointing. I'm glad to be learning of this now. Perhaps I will call closer to the date to see if this policy has changed.

Thanks for the info.

SSR Spa is very over priced for what they offer.

Now here I am looking to gift my wife a spa package for our anniversary and am not too sure of what to do. I toured SSR last May and did a walk through at the spa. I ended up taking it with a couple of girls who work for the company, the spa is not run by Disney I understand. They actually worked at the Grand Floridian Spa.

Though they liked the facility at SS a little better they thought the packages they offered at GF were better. Not too sure if the staff was too new here or not, but I found it interesting as I have this thread.

I also at the time did not know the spa was contracted out to this other company.

Why couldn't you leave your panties on? If you were going to be more comfortable, after all that's what a spa is all about....Getting comfortable and relaxed!

It doesn't bother me a bit be undressed for a massage. Afterall, the massage therapist is normally quite proficient with the sheet for anyone that might be uncomfortable. BUT...I did not expect to be left in a co-ed lounge for 30 minutes while waiting on the pedicure, and robes that are tied have a tendancy to loosen here and there! I WAS uncomfortable with the pedicure/no panties situation. I wished that I had gone back to the dressing room and retrieved them, but I just had no idea how long it would take before they called my name.

I would not normally visit a spa during a Disney trip (too many other things that I would rather be doing) but, this was a gift from a friend for planning their Disney vacation and of course I felt obliged. I did enjoy the experience overall and if I had time to kill, I would do it again.

For those who want to use their Rewards dollars, we always swap ours for Disney Dollars at The Disney Store before we go to WDW. Much easier than trying to save receipts to remember how much is on the card.

As for the spa, we thought it was lovely when we toured it in December and the gym there is the nicest I've seen at WDW (though I haven't been to all of them). I'll be taking my mom next weekend -- she's getting a massage and facial, I'm going to work out for an hour, then get the Mystical Forest Therapy. Hoping it's worth it!

married@WDW,

Please post your experiences when you get back. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to visit the spa at SSR or go elsewhere.

Thanks,

Lissa

My mother and I had a fantastic time a SSR. She had a massage and facial, I worked for an hour, then had the Mystical Forest Therapies. The spa was spotless and everyone was very nice. The gym is gorgeous. I took a shower and was pleasantly surprised that they have shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, q-tips, combs, hairspray and aerosol deodorant available. I forgot my deodorant and was going to run back to the room after my therapy -- no need! Tea and cold water were available, as well as fruit and the most delicious tiny hard candies.

We really enjoyed the spa. After checking in, we got locker keys, then they took us on a quick tour and left us in the locker room. We had robes and rubber sandals (I didn't wear my sandals -- uncomfortable!) in our lockers to change into. There was a hot tub, sauna and steam room available in the locker room area, as well as showers with all the goodies listed above, blow dryers and a bathing suit dryer. My mom changed and went to the waiting room to read a magazine until her masseuse was ready for her. I hit the gym, then showered and got in my robe for my service.

The waiting room at SSR spa is unisex, but we didn't really have a problem with that -- I think some others on the boards had complained. At the GF spa a few years ago, my mom and I did a half-day of beauty with lunch. They served us lunch in the area next to the spa lobby -- a very "public" space -- so the unisex waiting room area at SSR was great compared to that.

I really liked the Mystical Forest Therapies -- half massage, half reflexology -- but I think I'd get a regular massage next time. They only have time to do back, neck and shoulders with a massage and the reflexology didn't do as much for me. My mom liked her facial so much that she spent a small fortune on one of the moisturizers (I think it was $73!).

If you have mobility issues, the spa is set up on several levels, and while there was an elevator, we didn't see anyone use it. Just might want to check that out.

Overall a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be headed back to SSR!

Any questions?
