Souvenirs

When we visited WDW, my kids were under a strict "one souvenir each" rule. They researched all of the different lands and rides before we went and each had a general idea of what they wanted, at least which land it would come from. On our visit to DLR we will also be going to Legoland and SeaWorld. I'm hoping to come away from those two parks with no souvenirs. Do they sell items at either of these parks that kids see and think they can't live without? I hate to limit them, but when you start buying for three kids, these things can add up.

I can't speak to Legoland, as I haven't been in the main park (only the aquarium), but Sea World is gonna be tough lol. Sea World is set up so that after absolutely every animal exhibit, there is a similarly themed gift shop overflowing with stuffed animals, t-shirts, and toys about those animals, and you HAVE to walk through the gift shop to exit the area (they are smart cookies when it comes to marketing). For example, when you exit Wild Artic - BAM, there are the giant stuffed polar bears and whales. When you exit Turtle Reef, you HAVE to walk through the turtle gift shop. It's worse than Disneyland, in my opinion, who has several larger gift shops spread throughout the parks instead of one after every ride/exhibit.

Their stuff is cute though ;) Just be prepared that there won't be any shielding them from the gift shops.

Thanks! If it is mainly items like stuffed animals I should be OK. Luckily, I have boys who aren't much into that. I might be able to hold them off at Legoland with the promise of also visiting the Lego store in DTD.

To do cheap souveners you could do pressed pennies at each place. You can get the penny books for 5-8$ and give them quarters for different pressed pennies.
My son has lots as it seems most tourist locations have the machines. A lot cheaper as long as they don't want to collect them all. They'll last forever and don't take up any room.
Don't let the kids play the games at SeaWorld. Two years ago my ds13 and his friend 12 won a huge stuffed Shamu. They were so pround of themselves that I didn't have the heart to tell them they were crazy. We had to drive 27 hours to get home with that giant whale in the front seat. :rotfl2:

That's a really good idea, thanks! My kids love those (actually I think they really enjoy cranking the handle on the machine!)

Do your kids like legos? If so, you may be hearing a lot of "can I get this one?" for all of the various sets they sell
