Where is the best place to buy these. I have 4 kids and we want them to have some souveniers from DL but also do not want to go broke in the process!

There are warehouse places away from disneyland you can go to, but that wouldn't have been the same for the kids, so we brought quarters and pennies, and they were able to get a lot of pressed pennies throughout the parks, such as Tower of Terror, Merlin, etc. It's a great way for the kids to get something collectible, and my 8 and 10 year olds loved trying to spot the penny machines so they could get all the good ones.

Also, postcards are great for them, too. They can even mail a few home while they're there, and then have yet another fun moment when they get home.

I always just like to shop throughout my trip and keep an eye out for what I like, then on the last day go back to pick it up. However, if you want the best "destination" shopping spot I would recommend The World of Disney in Downtown Disney because it's HUGE. They have everything your kids could want.

Greetings in DCA has a great selection and is very big as well, the souveniors in DCA are a lot different than DL because they have some "california" themed items-- everything doesn't have disney characters plastered all over it.

Emporium is the biggest shop in DL. If you're interested in more specific items you could check out the DL website for a list with descriptions of every shop in DLR. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...isting?name=DisneylandParkShoppingListingPage

Happy shopping! :cool1:

We try to hit World of Disney in Downtown Disney. They have so much, and there are plenty of reasonably priced items to choose from. Because we go so often, but still like to have special things from our trips, it's worked out really well stopping off there before heading back to the car. :)

A little couple of little known places for buying cheaper souvies than at the parks are the gift shop at Howard Johnson Anaheim, and the gift store in the Carousel hotel across the street from DL. Normally I would avoid this hotel, but their gift shop is great and you can get cheap generic California tshirts for the kids that won't break the bank.

Do they have to be from Disneyland or can they be from anywhere? Our local Target seems to always have something cool Disney in the dollar section. Great way to pick up stickers and trinkets.

Ah yes...when I was a little girl, I refused to leave the park unless I got some Disneyland souvenirs (thus began my obsession with Disney watches)!!

You can find some really cute things that won't break the bank inside of DLR. As a collector, I have bought magnets, ornaments and little cheap toys and also big, expensive snowglobes and watches.

The shops I like in DL are the China Closet on Main Street, Disneyana on Main Street, the Emporium, Pooh Corner and the Gag Factory in ToonTown. The Gag Factory has a lot of cute little wind up cars and toys, fun magnets, keychains and things like that. Plus, it is very colorful inside, so the kids will enjoy looking at everything.

In DCA, if you go into Enginears, you will find the great Mr. Potato Head and his special Disney attachments. You can stuff a whole box full of everything you can squeeze into it for something like $18!! And all the kids should be able to enjoy playing with Mr. Potato Head. $18 is a bargain for all the stuff you get into that box!

Also, Off the Page in DCA is a great little shop.

The Fantasia shop in the DLH has a lot of things, and yes, World of Disney in DTD is a great store - but make sure to keep a close eye on all the kids as you can literally lose people in that store! It's true! That store is so large that I lost my friend inside of it.

But don't worry - there are tons of cute things all around DLR, in all the shops, that you can get if you just keep your eyes open, and they are not so outrageously expensive that you will run screaming into the night!! You'd be surprised! Some things are overpriced, that's for sure, but other things are quite reasonable. The other day I was just looking at some of my ultra-adorable Christmas cookie ornaments that I got at DLR and I saw that one of them was only $10, which I had forgotten, whereas I would have guessed it to be much more $$$ than that.

Be open to "trash...or treasure?" souvenirs too!
We keep the "disposable" plastic Mickey shaped plates the kids food comes in at Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA (probably other locations too) --we have 4 that have held up through dozens of runs in the dishwasher.
The mylar balloons are $$ but you can blow them up over & over at home with or without helium--we had one for 6 months that the kids played with almost daily.
The cast throws lg Mickey shaped confetti after each Street Party round -- cute to tuck into a scrapbook.
We keep the color changing straws that come with the kids meals at most locations -- they keep working wash after wash.
Spend the extra $2 or so to get a souvenir cup with your coffee/hot chocolate--I have them give me a paper cup too (holds more & I don't have to go wash the cup out to carry it the rest of the day.)

etc. :)

There's a place in Frontierland (I think it's in that land) where you can buy leather bracelets, and get your name carved into it. You can also have them add a metal Disney character to it. The bracelets are really reasonably priced - about $10, including the Disney character and the free engraving. We bought one for dh, I, both the kids, and a friend back home.

As someone else said, the pressed pennies are a fun, inexpensive souvenir.

Mickey ears are also fairly reasonable.

Pressed coins are my personal favorite. If you want to spend a lot less you can also buy stuff at Target/etc. (as others have suggested) and have them perhaps "waiting" for your kids in the morning or when you leave from your afternoon break. You can say they are from Tinkerbell, Mickey, etc.

Have a great trip!

How much are the pressed pennies?? Or do you just put your penny in and get it pressed?

They are $0.51 each... $0.50 to run the machine each time and of course the $0.01 is your penny you are pressing. :thumbsup2

You can also buy a book for something like $8 I think, that has lots of little tiny pockets that is meant for the pressed pennies. It opens like a book and it can probably hold close to 40 pennies. Great way for your kids to keep track of what they have, be able to enjoy the collection and and for you not to worry about losing the pennies in the bottom of your purse of backpack by the end of the day.

What about an autograph book for your kids as well? They are not that expensive and can create great memories for your kids as they get autographs from all of the characters that they meet. :thumbsup2

They have different ones now too--some using a nickel + 3 quarters, some using a quarter + 3 quarters -- ok if you've already made most of the pennies but a bit more spendy.

Two of my favorite one-stop-shops are The World of Disney in Downtown Disney and Emporium on Main Street. I'm sure you'd be able find something for each of your children at one of these stores! I always keep my eyes open while in the park(s) for items of interest, then purchase at the end of our trip. :)

It was sort-of mentioned but skipped over - the Character Warehouse is our one-stop-shop. It is about 15 minutes away by car/bus and sells discontinued things from the parks - for example our trip a couple weeks ago they had Jedi Training Academy sweatshirts for $19.95 - similar ones were $50.00 in the parks. I also bough Mickey sugar cubes to take home for I think $2.50 and they were $7.95 regular price! They also have many items Buy-one-get-one-free. We got several Mickey Teddies on B1G1. (They were regular $19.95 - we paid I think it was $10.00 for 2) Yes it is nice to buy stuff in the parks - and there are some things you can only get in the park - but we were on an EXTREME budget this trip and did all our souvenir shopping there - spent $130 instead of around $500!!! :scared1: Also something to keep in mind I was told you can't get things that say "Disneyland" on them anywhere but in the parks - but because this stuff comes from the park it does say it- unlike target or Wal-Mart things.

We were able to use a 10% off coupon found online at the anaheim chamber of commerce website too which helped save us even more :)

I love Pieces of Eight near Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trader near Star Tours, the Emporium on Main Street, Indiana Jones Outfitters in Adventureland......there are to many to name. I also love to go see the shops at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier. Each of them have shops that carries something you cant find at the other.

I have a tip that wasn't mentioned, and may or may not be useful. When we were there in December and when my dad was there last week, they printed coupons on the receipts. By shopping during certain hours of the day, we were able to save 20% on our purchase. They are just trying to drive people into the stores during the busy "ride hours." I think our time frame was from noon-2pm and my dad's was 9-11am or something like that.

Could be a possibility. But don't let it fool you into buying more stuff!
