I have a question I hope somebody can answer. I'm planning a trip this summer to Disney for my family and am thinking of flying Southwest. We will be heading down at the end of July and heading back the beginning of August. I'm assuming the prices for our flight down will come out before the prices for the flight back. To get the cheapest prices, should I book a one way flight down when the July prices come out, and then book the return flight (one way) to get back in August or should I wait until prices for both legs of the trip are out. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Have you signed up for DING? If not, definitely do that! DING is SW airlines special program for great rates, but the catch is you have to dopwnload the program and catch the specials as they come. Sometimes you only have a few hours of a window when you can book the flights at those rates, but they are super low. (We booked from New Orleans to Orlando for $29!)

As for when to book, I'd wait for the DING fares to start coming up for your dates, and book when you see what you want. If by chance an even lower rate comes out after you book, SW will give you a price adjustment to the lower fare...really nothing to lose.

Good luck! :)

I was just on their website and flights through June 9th can be booked. We're going down late June/heading back early July so I need to wait a few weeks to get my dates. I will book round trip at that time for the lowest rate offered. With what's showing it would save us 50% over our other option.
I'm happy with that. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Thanks for the advice. I would be happy with the $59 one way fare that I'm seeing, It's by far the cheapest fair out of Providence. I'm afraid that the rates for late July will come out before early August and If I wait for both to come out, the low $59 ones for July will be sold out. Is there a problem for buying one way tickets when July's come out and buy one way tickets when August rates come out? Thanks

I used SW's Ding fare to book my trip one way leg at a time, instead of waiting to do it roundtrip, (the rate to WDW for me came out and the cut off was before my return trip, so I booked and waited till the return fare was posted).....I kept checking Dings and as it happened, I got better and better Dings for my return fare, I cancelled twice and rebooked ending up with a $218 all inclusive rate for 5 of us! (MCO-PHL), I think I rebooked for a new Ding for my going fare also.....anyway I ended up with booking separately with a grand total or roundtrip rate of $97.40 pp taxes and fees included

So I say book that good rate now and see what happens, you can always cancel and rebook at a lower fare

You might be OK with a round trip booking as they release anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks at a time.If not just do the 1 way booking it's also easier for price adjustments and changes if it's done that way anyhow.
Only downside is you get 2 confermation #'s and security hits one way more then roundtrip bookings.

I finally got my best ding with SW about 2 weeks ago and I'm going in 26 days... my FINAL price for both my DH and myself comes to around 140 with tax. The Ding was like 29-35 one way ticket a person, flying New Orleans to WDW.

I found the flight I want with Southwest (nonstop). Hope it does not sell out before I get the money to pay for it! Gets kinda expensive when you have 5 people to purchase a ticket for.......Hope they don't fill up within the next two weeks. We are not going til end of April and early May.
