Just booked with SW for our May trip. Never used them and DH wasn't too confident, he's seen "airline" too many times. But the price couldn't be beat. Anyway........

I have a 3yr and 5yr. Do they gate check strollers??

Also, how exactly does baording work. I know they have ABC lines are they assigned to you when you check in on-line?

Not sure about the stroller.

You should checkin online 24 hours prior to your flight. We have never had a problem getting "A" boarding passes by checking in online 24 hours in advance.

Umbrella strollers yes. Not sure about the large ones. Having taken both to WDW over the years, if you can get away with it, the umbrella-type stroller is unbelievably easier to get around the transportation system at disney with!

We have strollers bigger than umbrella. They are the ones with trays and a hood, but light, about 14 pounds.

We have gate checked them with SW several times with no problem. :)

When you get to the gate, take the strollers up and they will give you gate check tags. Then, when you board, fold them and leave them at the end near the plane door. :)

I believe SW generally lets people with kids board first or anybody who needs extra time really (older disabled, etc.).

SW will usually allow preboarding for a family with a child under age 4 (keep in mind...parents and siblings, not extended family like grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc). However, they have been known to suspend preboarding especially if it appears a very large percentage of the flight will be preboarded. That's why it's important not to assume you'll be preboarded. They will make an announcement as to preboarding something to effect "Passengers who need assistance (meaning someone who is in a wheelchair, disabled, etc.) and parents with a child under age 4". So, always checkin and print your boarding passes as closes to the 24 hr mark as possible. That said, we travel SW several times a year (always on the PHL/MCO and vice versa flights) and have a few times got B passes and still were able to sit together. Usually if you head to the rear of the plane you have no problem unless there was an extremely high number of preboards. So, tell your DH not to worry and pay no attention to the show. Actually, we've found SW to have the nicest FA's and customer service in the industry. I've grown to really like their policy of no assigned seating.......because it allows ME to CHOOSE where I want to sit. I don't have to sit near someone who spent too much time in the airport lounge before the flight or a cranky child who's had too much vacation on too little sleep (not to say my kids and grandson haven't been there, also). DH and I always head for the back of the plane, especially when we're travelling alone without our kids and grandson because most families with smaller kids grab the first seats they see together and it seems it's mostly adults toward the rear.

We just did the Philly to MCO for the first time last Nov. Yes, we did pre-board both times. In Philly, I think it was under 5 & in MCO it was under 4. I have also heard they suspend pre-board if there's too many. So, we did get the A-passes for the way down & ended up w/ B for the way home. You can get the return home ones printed at the hotels or in the parks.

Very important for the stroller - make sure you do go to the desk where they will print you a ticket similar to what they put on your luggage. I didn't know that & found out just in time before boarding began. I was used to US Airways where you just fill in the paper tag yourself & hook it on.

You cannot count on this! I've seen them pre-board families with small children and I've also seen them only pre-board people with disabilities.

Your best bet is to make SURE you print your boarding passes 24 hours before your flight. Get an "A" boarding pass and make sure you are at the gate on time so you are there when they call for the "A" passes.
