Hello All, OP here checking in.
DK9 had his surgery moved to last Tuesday so we'd be home for the remainder of the week post-op. He's doing really well, and now we seem to be entering the difficult part in keeping him calm and have no jumping or running or anything for a few more weeks, he's definitely feeling better and I even caught him eyeing a stone wall in our garden that he likes to jump up onto - no way, Jose!
Anyway, so we're sitting with our two cards at $1900 and $1700. One of them has a cycle close on the 9th of the month and one has the 19th, so I believe I can top them off to $2000 after December 10th and 20th respectively. I'm going to watch closely when the points post after the current cycles close just to be sure. Then after that I'll be going for the additional points.
So I'm getting a little twitchy in wanting to book for a trip we have scheduled in April since SWA keeps sending me the "ending soon!" emails that are trying to get me all panicked (it is obviously working).
If anyone wants to weigh in with an opinion on booking I'd appreciate input. Three of us traveling, one will be the companion when we earn that.
Would you:
1. Book now NOT using the SWA Visa (to take advantage of "sale" prices) then transfer to points when they're available? (and sit on a credit)
2. Wait until December 10th to book using the SWA Visa to get double points then transfer to points when available? (and sit on a credit) - I wonder how much the flights might go up??
3. Wait until the points show up in my RR account and just book with points? - again, I wonder how much the points might increase??
And of course, if we can hit the companion status by the time we go, I assume that we'll be able to convert the existing reservation over to the companion and either put the points back into RR or carry a credit (depending on how we decide the above) - anyone know if this is how it would work?
