Southwest schedules are in!

Still waiting to book ours for our December Cruise trip...I hate waiting but I guess I'll be waiting until May to see if Southwest is better priced than what it is right now ($506 out of seattle right now) My fingers are crossed that we will find a lower fare, with 5 tickets any little bit will help. :goodvibes

Quote: DH will not consider going to newark. To save $73/pp, he may reconsider. But for a total savings of $73 he wont do it. We live near Philly and Newark is quite a hike for us. Too bad, because I always wanted to try JetBlue at least once.

EWR and PHL are equidistant from us and it always seems to be tha case that a good Sleep 'n Fly package is cheaper in Newark, so Newark is is in Oct. We're staying at the Sheraton 4 Points in PHL next week, flying USAir.

:) Just booked MSY (New Orleans) to MCO non stop round trip for $137 each way 5/4-5/11. Yesterday they were $152. I guess Tuesdays are better. I haven't seen anything less than $134 for months.

Good for you that they were cheaper today! I booked yesterday and wasn't thrilled with the schedule but the price was acceptable. I checked today just for the heck of it and our went up $60 per person RT Chicago to Orlando. Airfare is always impossible to predict.

I have a question about southwest
Is it better for one person to have a rapid rewards accout and by tickets on that or should everyone in your family have one?
Thanks,

Thanks,

One person cannot accumulate everyone's rewards so if you want the rewards for each of those then, you need to create accounts for everyone.

My dd11 has had an account for 5 years...

Planning our trip for Sept. Normally we fly southwest out of Pittsburgh. Decided to check into the Latrobe airport today since Spirit started offering non stop flights to Orlando out of there. Checked online and it was about 180.00 per person round trip. Was out and about and figured i would stop in and talk to them and got our tickets 138.00 per person round trip.

Happy that SW got the 7:00 am nonstop flight back from MCI to MCO but at $179 each way I'm going to have to wait and see if their prices go down before booking. Here's hoping!

Does southwest ever add more flights or is this probably it?

I'm also looking at the phl-mco fares and the only direct flights on the return end are early morning. Prior months there is one later in the day, which is what we wanted, but I see starting mid-sept those flights are not available. very disappointing. Newark is closer for us, so I might need to check out jetblue too.

The Southwest schedule from Philly is much worse than previous years - only one non stop going down on 10/3 for example. AirTran has a large schedule.

I think we are seeing them prepare for the merger of schedules - we go down every October for FWF and this is very much out of the ordinary.

I bet in places where AirTran does not have a big presence the schedules are not too bad. But in Philly, there are so many AirTran flights, that there is no need to have a big SW schedule.

I read that SW anticipates a single carrier license in the first quarter of 2012. They also plan to use SW policies - free bags, etc., so I am hoping that if we book AirTran, some of the fees will be reimbursed?

it panned out even worse in PIT, not unexpected i'm afraid:rolleyes:just knew our options would decrease. AT flights exactly the same as SWA to MCO. I booked a way home & hope the dust will settle a bit in next day or so before i commit.

I tried spirit once out of LBE last year, never again:sad2:. Equipment delayed flight for over 6 hours. The next flight out was cancelled entirely, and no other flights were scheduled for days, good luck to those who go that route:wizard:.

I just booked our fights on Air Tran too. The SW Schedule was terrible so we are going to try Air Tran for the first time. Even with the baggage and seat fees, we saved close to $250 over US Airways. I'm hoping too that the merger will be completed prior to October and maybe we can at least not have to pay for the luggage.

The SW October schedule from PIT did improve a wee bit from September - the only nonstop is now at 7 am and not 6. Other than that, I agree the schedule is worse than in years past. Our last trip, in 2009, there were at least three more flights, and at least three nonstops. But the only nonstops now on the schedule, down and back, work for us, time-wise (and they were the cheapest flights as well), so we booked. I refuse to take 4 - 5 hours for a two hour flight to Florida, so might be looking at Airtran next go-round.

booked my flight today from oma to mco! used my points and got 3 flights for 48,000 points! yeah i just checked and my morning flight already went up 1000 per person! ahh good thing i booked when i did!

PHL - wow! After reading on here I went and checked and plugged in some different dates - and only ONE nonstop to and from PHL each day?

ugh!
Need to book air for Thanksgiving - yeah, I know I can't on SW yet.... but figured would go with SW for this trip and just wait till they release their dates - but wow, am hating the thought of waiting for them to release my dates and find out there is only one nonstop, and it's $$ and not a time that works for us.
Gotta start thinking now about if should wait for Airtran, or do USair... or fly out of Newark.

Yep - the PIT/MCO route is getting tougher and more expensive! It isn't even like we still have US Airways as an alternative. SW certainly accomplished their goal of controlling this route!

Unfortunately, my SW points won't be posted for awhile. We are somewhat flexible on our dates and (as much as I hate to say it) I will even consider 1 stop flights if the points are right.

I really miss the days of super cheap fares for PIT/MCO! We actually flew it once for $29 each way!!!
