Ok I was excited to see the rates from Aug 25, to November.

Cheapest one one ticket 168.00 total cost for two 710 US. Is this their new selling technique. To keep the tickets high until close to the end and sell off.

You have to be crazy to pay these prices. With that price it is cheaper to fly out of Toronto. Gettting tired of this marketing crap. Southwest you are going to lose money in the end as people choose other carriers or drive to detroit.

Belle1997 I agreew with you- I am very dissappointed with their fares. I booked one way Aug 19th from Buf to MCO for $54 and was assuming that I would be able to book my return on Sept 2nd for about the same price when the dates were opened up. Those flight are now at $168 :scared1:
Shame on me and shame on SW because I will book my return with another carrier.

Sometimes when SW just opens their schedule, their prices are not super low. Give them a chance to run a sale or sign up for the DINGS, and you'll get lower fares.

I'm happy the schedule is open so I can check the flight times and such, but I'll be patient and wait for lower fares. Last year, we flew Sept 12th and I didn't buy my tickets until June 8th. Then I started getting DINGS and kept rebuying until I had a final price of $105 per person roundtrip, total. (BUF to MCO.)

The key to SW is patience.

We've never purchased when fares are released and we've never had our desired flight sold out. Don't panic. We actually just booked, leaving May 17 for $69 each way. That's only 3 weeks out. You really have to check every day the fares go up and down all the time.

You still have over 4 months so just wait it out.

Most of the time the rates are really good on the first day they release the new dates, but these rates suck! $168 from Buffalo! Didn't help matters that their website isn't working correctly - the link on the right still only shows bookings to August, so I had no idea the new dates were out. I've been waiting for DING to tell me all morning, but nothing. Usually DING indicates when the new dates have been released.

I just posted in another thread.
If you're going for a week (in September) and live in Toronto, consider Sunwing.ca.
RT for 2 for CAN 568, all taxes in.

Way cheaper than these prices from SWA.

I like to have everything set up in advance, I don't know if I can wait that long to book my flight.

When they released the prices last time, I could get 2 RT tickets for less than CAN 380.00. Now it would cost us over 800.00

I would wait it out. You have tonnes of time and Sept is low season for Florida.

Like Neelloc said SW rates are a game.

As long as I have been watching SWA flights they have always started high and with patience I have never paid more than $59 each way. If you did a search you would see posts almost identical to the OP every time the rates have been released.

Even if the rates stayed at these fares....I would still pay them to avoid flying out of Toronto.

You can book Spirit out of Detroit all the way up till Dec and the flights range around 69-89 each way currently. They also often have sales of 6-9 dollars eah way from DTW to MCO.

I have no patience so I went ahead and booked. I figure I will watch the dings and if they come up for my days I'll just use the credit to talk DH into another trip:lmao: .

You know it's bad when Ted and AirTran both have cheaper fares than SWA. Seems to me that airlines is getting a bit too big for its britches. I priced out a September trip and it was over $550 for two people?? Holy Cow!!

550 isn't terrible for 2 people when youlook at the cost of flying from Canada to Orlando and a family of 4 and 5 are into the 2000 dollar range with taxes and fees.

I think we are going to fly from Hamilton...West Jet had flights to Orlando for about 197 one way...a little cheaper than Toronto.

If you can find a cheaper, direct flight out of Toronto, let me know!:rotfl: I couldn't find anything less than $1000 for 2 of us, and westjet was over $1400! I'll be happy over here with my $700 fare, even if a ding doesn't come out. I'm not THRILLED, but it's certainly better than the alternatives I can see.

Those WestJet prices bring it to just over $2000 CA for 4. SouthWest out of Buffalo - even at a high price of $168 US each way - comes to $1420 plus exchange. Still cheaper to fly out of Buffalo. Darn taxes!!!

When are you going?
check the Sunwing prices that I mentioned above....
I'm thinking about removing a day of my vacation and flying with them: 568.00 for 2 of us, all taxes in

Camilo - Those prices are good as far as flying out of Canada goes, but what you are failing to mention is that Sunwing only flies to MCO on Sundays and only has 1 flight on that day.
Most of us prefer the ability to choose any day of the week and a particular time of day, which you can get flying out of Buffalo.

I'd still look at other carriers - Air tran has had the best price for us for both of our trips and I snagged them - maybe not the *best* rate I could have gotten but we are only paying about $160 return PP taxes in for our May flight - about $20 more for the August flight. Still great prices when you compare to flying out of TO with the dates we needed!

I have to have my ducks in a row - not sure I could play the Southwest game - I have seen a ding come out for our dates for May (if I could have changed them a bit) after I had booked but I'd rather pay a bit more and know everything is good to go and have my flights organized. My dh also doesn't like the idea of the boarding process with Southwest - he wants to know where he's sitting and know he has a seat!

Wow...we don't usually get cheap flights from here. Westjet was cheapest at $3100 for 4. Now I have a package with them. 4 adults 1 child, 13 nights at POP Century, 10day park hopper with water parks & more, free dining and flights. $5235 tax in including cancellation insurance.

I just booked AirTran last weekend departing Dec 29/07 out of BUF and returning Jan 5/08 from MCO. Non-stop round trip for two incl taxes for $470US. Quite a bit better than SW's prices at same time last year. Same flight out of Pearson if I'd have booked back in late January was $1150CDN total and last weekend was roughly $2000CDN. Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased...
