We are scheduled to leave SDF on Tuesday and return home from MCO on a Sunday. I have noticed most of my Dings are only good for Tuesday and Wednesday. If they offer a Ding later on for my Tuesday departure flight, can I get the price changed, even though the Sunday price will stay the same? Will that mess up my flight coming home?

Thanks!

did you book a round trip flight or 2 one ways? I think in order to get the Ding fare, you will need to cancel and rebook your original flight. If you booked 2 one ways, then you can just cancel one way and rebook the Ding using the credit from the original reservation. If it is round trip, you will need to cancel the whole reservation and rebook, possibly resulting in a higher fare on the leg that does not get a Ding fare. Does that make sense?

I read that it always easier to book 2 one ways instead of round trip since it would be easier to rebook a Ding or systemwide sale fare if only one leg of the trip is eligible for the cheaper price.

Not real sure on that one. With Ding! you have to cancel, and rebook using the Ding! link with your old travel funds. If the fare goes up for your return, then the Ding! saving won't help you.

If your original fare price is still available now, what I would do is cancel that ticket and use the travel funds to purchase two separate one ways. Then if the Ding! only comes up for Tuesday, then you can cancel and rebook the newer Ding! fare with the travel funds.

Does that make sense??

I haven't actually booked our flights yet -- I'm doing that online right now! So I should make 2 different reservations for our trip? I never even thought of that! :) Thanks!

yup...just book each leg as a one way and if a sale or Ding come up later it will be easier to cancel and rebook :thumbsup2
