Southwest Notice Important You Can Change your Flight

Our flight home was changed from noon to 6:45 a.m. We are not happy, but we have been on Max flights from MCO to PHL before so we know that’s the reason (even though we didn’t receive notification from SWA). Our short trip got a little shorter, but what can you do?

When is your flight? Are you able to call to change?

Our flight home is on 4/30. We could change, but the only other non-stops are evening and that would be problematic for our airport pickup at home and our work schedules the next day. We will just deal with it, it’s not a huge problem. But disappointing that SWA hasn’t even let us know about it although I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Yes and no. There has not been a change fee, but you had to pay a fare difference. As long as it is similar travel dates and the same airport to airport, though, I am pretty sure you don't even have to pay that right now. At least that is how I am reading it.

If your flight is cancelled SWA will automatically assign another one same day, then send you an email

I was hoping mine would get cancelled end of June. Thrilled to jump on earlier one I wanted that I’ve been stalking, but always hundreds more than I was prepared to pay.

FYI it did show sold out for nearly a week before the cancellation, might be a early sign.

Copy for the cancellation/rescheduling email for reference:

We want to make you aware of a change we’ve made to your upcoming trip. This was done proactively due to a Southwest flight schedule change on your day of travel.

Just tossing it out there that our return flight for the above trip was also changed yesterday. Nothing major, can live with it. But they are now into July if not later as to cancellations/adjustments.

Today is my lucky day!

I got the email this morning for my July 6-13 trip. Even though the change was only a 5 minute departure change, they let me change both flights to more desirable times for me on those same days, with no extra cost to me at all. I am thrilled as I didn't choose those flights originally because the point cost was too high.

I love that this is working out so well for some people :)

Were you able to do it online? Every time I try to change mine online it gives me an error message and tells me to call.

No, I also got the error message so I called and they could not have been nicer!

Perhaps a silly question, but how do you know if your flight will be impacted. We have flights with Southwest in both July and August.

I had the same experience - our return flight was changed so that it departed MCO about an hour later. I took advantage of the opportunity to pick a better flight time for the flight to MCO, and then decided to add another night at CSR and fly home mid-day the next day instead of late on our originally planned departure day. I booked on points as well, and the new flights would have cost me over 27,000 more points!

My flight times didn’t change at all, just the flight number. But I called today and changed to an earlier flight for 4 more hours at Disney

One of my flights had the time pushed up by 10 minutes. I now can’t seem to look at that reservation since the change, either on the app or the website. It keeps giving me an error message. I had bought early bird for it so I just want to make sure it was still there. Think I should call to check?

If you still can’t view on line today, then yes, call to confirm EBCI transferred properly.

I have gotten an error message for months since I modified a flight. I private messaged southwest to verify that I still am on my flight and still have early bird. They are very quick at answering. They needed my flight reservation code. She had no clue about the error message. I don’t know if I will be able to check in or print boarding pass until I get to airport but it doesn’t matter since we have early bird check in.

Edit to add I private messages them via twitter

my non-stop flight to California was changed to two days later and includes a connection now. Did they really think I'd be okay with leaving two days later? I was able to make changes that were acceptable to me and can fly into SNA now instead of LAX which is good. I only chose LAX originally because of cost difference but would much prefer Orange County so it worked out for the most part. The worst was I had to rebook my rental car and am now paying $100 more. Hoping if I keep looking the costs will go down on the car.
