Southwest Loss, Delta Gain

We booked with Delta about 4 weeks ago - now I wish we had waited. In the last three weeks they have changed our flights in as many times. I keep having to call to get our seat assignments again. We will never fly Delta again, regardless of their pricing/schedules.

Nope I got great rates $79 each way for Dec 18-22.

Now I hope I can pull some Dings ( Oct trip is $44 and $54 each way) but if not still a great rate at the time I want and don't have to worry about them changing flights.

They have only changed 1 flight in my 5 or 6 years flying 5 to6 times a year and it was only by 10 minutes.

Agree with diznyfan. Delta is notorious for switching their flights. I'll never fly them again. They switched it so many times I cancelled with them on my last trip, and booked with Continental.

Waited and waited .... sorry SW! You are too late with DEC. fares. Anyone else?
But if you are too late with Delta you will be waiting and waiting for SW, or booking to Tampa.

Was the booking class T? or was it U or L or K or M? If the booking class is not T, you are not assured of having the lowest fare.

If they change your flights significantly you can cancel out for a full refund. Then book again when the fare comes down.

You never have to keep having to call to get seat assignments again on SW!

I waited for SWA and am glad I did. December flights opened in late August. I booked right away at about $238 RT. It was VERY hard to wait. Now the tix are about $208 RT and I have $120 credit to use another day! And our RT price is darn good for MDW to MCO over Christmas!

I try not to fly SWA...to many arguments in the 'cattle' boarding arrangement. Now if they go over to assigned seating...well....

I booked with Continental for $94 (total) each way (12/9-12/16) and am happy I don't have to worry about the cattle call of SW because I have assigned seats. I avoid SW anytime I can. :)

THIS IS GETTING VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! :confused3 I HAVE NEVER WAITED THIS LONG TO GET MY AIRLINE TICKETS.

IT IS A BIT SCARY!!! MY COUNTDOWN SAYS 1 MONTH 3 WEEKS!! :confused3

I AM HOPING AT 6 WEEKS OUT I WILL SEE SOMETHING??? THEY HAVE NEVER FAILED ME BEFORE. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

THE CURRENT SALE IS ENDING TOMORROW AND SO I AM KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR A 3 DAY INTERNET SALE ON FRIDAY OR MAYBE A FLORIDA SALE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

SO FAR OUR FLIGHT DATES OF DEC 13TH AND DEC 18TH ARE WIDE OPEN AND SO THAT MAKES ME FEEL A BIT BETTER.

I JUST HATE TO PAY THOSE CURRENT PRICES!! IT WOULD END UP COSTING MORE FOR THE AIRFARE THAN FOR THE CRUISE WE BOOKED....

COME ON SOUTHWEST!!!!!!!!! :wizard: :wizard:

We are with you! I waited and waited for SW to release at least a SALE. Nothing for months! SW is still sitting at $135 OW. Its been that price now for months. I got tired of waiting and booked Delta a few weeks ago for $187.10 each rt. But...yes, they did cancel our flight and re-booked us on the next one. And yes, I did have to call and get our seat reassigned. That WAS a pain in the rear...whole other story though.

I definitely think SW has it down. They make you wait so long to book a cheap flight that by the time they drop the fare you can't buy from anybody else. Our Delta flight is now $800 each!!!

But SW did lose our business this trip. I'm sorry but I'm not waiting until a month before a trip to book my air. That's crazy.

We fly out December 2nd. :bounce:

Me, too Camp Rd Lady! SW has been $94 each way RDU-MCO for my 12/13-17 trip. Delta had a sale 2 weeks ago and I was able to get my 12/13 ticket for $59 plus taxes ($69.30 total). Kept waiting for something for my return flight on 12/17. I was getting too nervous, so I finally went w/ the Delta flight (bought yesterday). It too is $94 plus tax ($102.80 total), but I have a reserved seat and can use the remote airline check-in at Pop since Delta is a participating airline.

Funny thing is my taxes/fees (not the US taxes) on the $59 flight are higher than the $94 flight! Wonder why???

Now, no one tell me if SW puts my flights on sale or there's a Ding! :rotfl:

I bought Delta back in Feb for this Dec/Jan for $308 RT w/all taxes ea. Bit my nails until SWA came out in August - No worries, I could have saved $2.70 each, had no assigned seats, 1 extra layover each way with 2-4 hours more of travel time and the worry of trying to make sure the family gets to sit together.

I use SWA a lot and we did with last years trip. This year as was our trip in 1999 Delta was the way to go for us.

Last year I was able to get SWA for $99 each way, not this year even with the exact same dates, lowest started at $130, add the taxes etc. and no real savings.

I don't worry about schedule changes, flight changes etc... it happens. Ever see the show "Airline"? Most carriers have some sort of issue.
It is like the bus system at WDW resorts, I have yet to read of any resort where all people are happy. Nature of the transportation beast.

Well I watch it faithfully and I have seen nothing on sale for December at all with SW!!! :confused3

I am like the person on the commercial that hears the DING and jumps over all the cubicles!!!! :rotfl2:
I swear I check everyday and I have 3 of my friends that are checking too and we have not found anything under $109 one way there and $159 one way back??????

It is driving me crazy!!!!

right now my flight dates are 145 dollars one way on southwest and I can book delta for 156 roundtrip- no brainer, plus I have their sky miles card.

SW had Dec. on sale back in August.

Unfortunately the sale rates they had back in December out of Albany was only $2 less each way - $145 each way instead of $147 - that is not a sale!

BUT I WANT A $59 FLORIDA :sunny: SALE!!!  :tinker: MAYBE SOME PIXIE DUST WILL HELP!!

HECK I WOULD EVEN BE HAPPY WITH $79 AT THIS POINT..... :thumbsup2
