Southwest Loss, Delta Gain

As someone previously mentioned the current sale is over tomorrow, so fingers crossed something new is on the horizon. Right now the fare from PVD/MHT is $135 each way. I've budgeted $79 each was and hope to pay $59 or less. And not to start a debate here but I'd much rather have open seating than an assigned seat.

Not me. Everything with Delta between Philly and Orlando is a connection through Atlanta. Southwest flies non-stop. I booked my flights for December already, now I'm just waiting for a DING to get a lower fare.

The thing that I like about SW is their liberal cancelation policy and no rebooking fees. When Song was flying out of Boston, we got some awesome rates, I think we paid $115 RT twice, and $135 another time. We were also able to get a price adjustment on a flight that we booked that dropped...unfortunately, the current Delta BOS-MCO flights for when we're going in December for a nonstop flight is about $270 (or $223 with 1 stop and undesirable times) If we book the flight we plan to book in SW from Providence, it's currently $135 each way, plus fees, so it's around the same, if not more than Delta. The thing is, is SW starts having $79 fares (starting, say, tomorrow !!!) we'd book right away, and then hope for a ding for a better fare...I tried to change our recent flight to LAX on Delta, and I was going to have to pay a $50 rebooking fee on each ticket- no thanks. So long as SW keeps having the best fares, we're sticking with them! We'll save our Delta miles for frequent flier trips ;)

I am with you. We took our last trip with Delta (with FF miles). Had to connect thru Atlanta and ALL 4 OF OUR BAGS were lost on the way home. Yes, they were all found. I love SW. In 2 1/2 hours I can be in Florida, rather than the 5+ it can take with Delta. Plus, even without a Ding!, the fares are comparable to other airlines, at least out of PHL

SW lost our business this year too. We finally booked Allegiant out of our home airport for $69 each way. Hopefully this will be a good experience. First time flying with them. I dont mind SW's A,B,C boarding policy. I have always checked in 24 hours early and had no problem with an A pass. Allegiant wants $11 per ticket EACH way to book an assigned seat. The main thing I dont like. I refused to pay $22 per each ticket (7 of them) so I hope to be able to sit with my children. Flying Allegiant also saves us a 3 hr 15 min ride to RDU for SW. The down side is that we cant use ME and have to fly into Sanford. Oh well, we will try this for this trip. I wont fly Delta. Too many flight changes. DH had to fly them for work sometimes and he stays so frustrated trying deal with Delta. Last year we had tickets- ding fares- bought in September for our Nov./Dec. trip. This year it is after mid October and still no ding dates past Nov. 18th. It was too much stress to wait. We got $28 each way last year, and I was hoping for the FL frenzy fare of like $59. Hopefully Allegiant will impress me :)
