Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

UGHH!! I really wish AT and SWA would post their flight schedules for November:furious:...it would make this so much easier!

Especially frustrating since Airtran's website has been stating for quite some time that they would release past 8/9/2013 in "January". :confused3

Editing to Add: Maybe there's hope. Yesterday Airtran's pull-down calendar only went to October (although if you tried to search for flights then, it said none available) -- but today the drop-down also shows November. Now they just need to load the information! ;)

I'm a bit confused. I just got my card, and it says if you don't have a RR account they create one for you?? But how to I long on the SW site without a user ID and password? How do they know where to put my points once I receive them?

Did they print your RR number on the card? If they assigned one to you, they should have put it on the front of the card, down near the bottom.

Nope, no number. And when I called to activate the card the guy just said maybe they didn't print it because I didn't have an existing account?

The easiest way might be to go to Southwest's website and sign up for a Rapid Rewards #. If it allows you to do that, create a user name and password. Then I'd call Chase and ask them to link the RR # to your new credit card.

On 2nd thought, maybe you should call Chase first (not the activation line, call the number on the back of your CC) and ask them IF there's an RR # linked to your account.

Please report back here and let us know what happens.

Thanks! I called Chase and they gave me my RR number and I set up an account. Interestingly, when I signed in on SW, it says I have 250 points? Shouldn't I have zero?

I signed up last December. I haven't received my first statement yet, but I've been watching my account online. I've spent the $3000 already and waiting to see when the 50K points will be available. I guess they won't be available until my first bill cycles.

When looking at the account online, I also noticed that I was charged $69 for the first year's annual fee. I was shocked, they don't give you a year free?

Does anyone know if there will be the extra bonus of points to supposedly cover the first annual fee or is the 50K support to cover that too.

There is no waiver of the yearly fee. You have to pay it, no bonus points or anything. Term of the card.

After the first year, they give you 3000 points on your anniversary date. I assume this is to cover the annual fee.

Pre Credit Card enrollment ... I was aware of the first year fee (not free)

Being as 50,000 points = $840.00 (in SWA airfare) ... I was happy with the offer.

YMMV

Do you think it was pushing my luck to apply for this card, and the Sapphire rewards card within a week or so of each other?

Thank you to all who have posted your comments/experiences about this offer. I finally realized what a good deal this was and applied for a card. Yesterday I was able to book my mom a flight with the points I earned so she could join us on our upcoming Disneyland trip. We are so excited! So thank you!:yay:

I did this deal last year. So my year is about to be up and I will get charged the annual fee again. I want to cancel before that happens and resign up for 50,000 more points as others on here have sid they have done. My DH won't let me because he says it would not be good for our credit record. Anyone know what it does to your credit record to close an acct and open a new one?

It might have a slight impact, but nothing major -- if you arent planning on getting a mortgage or somethinig soon, it shouldnt be a problem.

That said -- I'm surprised that you can cancel and turn right around and sign up again for another 50K bonus. I'd have thought that there would have been some sort of a waiting period.

I would have thought hte same thing - or even that you could never receive the bonus again - but I have read posts on this thread that it's been done - I'm not sure how many pages back it was - I read it about a month ago on here.

I will let you know, I cancelled mine last summer. They sent me an email offering me the 50000 again, so I signed up. I am about 2 weeks in, and about $150 away from my $2000, so I should know in the next few weeks if they give me the 50000 miles.

Do you get the points just for signing up or do you have to spend so much?

Thanks
