Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

So, I've read through this whole thread and I guess I still need convincing! I've never had a card with a fee before!

I won't be travelling until next January. I have good credit and no current cards with Chase. I can apply for this card, use it for incidentals, and use those bonus points for a flight in January once I can book those flights?

There are three of us; I can use the points for all three of us? And depending on the point values of those tickets (is "wanna get away" the same as "coach" or does it mean I am severely restricted in times/dates?) I might be able to purchase all 3 round trip tickets for....virtually nothing?

This essentially means I'd be prepaying $99 for our three round trip tickets?

This sounds too good to be true???? I don't want to find out I won't be able to use the points come January---I am flexible with dates and times and all, not stuck on something specific.

I'm a skeptical wench! Convince me?

There is a Sept 11th fee per ticket that is $10 or $15 that you will have to pay, in addition to the card's yearly fee.

We applied last month for my DH after being skeptical as well. :rotfl2: I can tell you from my research it's a very favored card not just on the DIS ~ not too long ago I was watching Clark Howard and he listed in #2 behind the Amex Starwood card I believe. The 50,000 is the equivalent of about $833 so it's quite nice. :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure all airlines have to charge the 9/11 security fees so this isn't SWA specific. We booked our cruise flight on SWA and used DH's card and got double points (SWA purchases) so that was like getting another $40 back in the points.

I keep thinking I should apply too.... :rotfl:

so I went for this offer in november so we could use all the points for Amazon gift cards and save a ton on christmas gifts. Then we canceled cause I just didnt need the card otherwise. However, we have a fall trip coming up and i'd love to be able to get the points again for flights. Do you think they would let me sign up again so soon and if not, how long do you think they would need me to wait?

We signed up the last time they offered this so we each got 50,000 points. I was searching through the rewards last night and found we could stay at one of the value resorts for free with all of our points. They also have pages and pages of hotels you could choose from in the Orlando area.

O...M...G....:woohoo: I didn't know there so many options for redeeming!!!!

Card came today, gave it to my son to fill up his gas tank.. Now I'll wait for Southwest fares to go down a bit & book my FREE tickets! :)

Me neither until I started browsing the rewards out of curiousity! :goodvibes You can look through what's available and how many points things cost here:

Just click on the category you want to look through and then click on "browse" if you don't have a Southwest account. It's fun to look around and see what you can get for the points.

I just wanted to offer a hearty thank you to everyone who's posted on this thread and kept it going. I applied and was approved, and feel really fortunate to be able to take advantage of the free flights. :goodvibes

thanks also from me. I had stuck the email in a spot to save, but didn't do anything with it. I checked online & at that time it was showing 25,000 miles. But I dug the e-mail back out & used that link for the 50,000. Thanks again!

Thanks to all who have posted. I applied yesterday and was approved in about 10 seconds. I'm taking my mother to DL over Labor Day Weekend and these points will help keep the trip cost minimal.

Just curious...and I don't remember reading this, so forgive me if it's already been asked. For those of you who have the card, did it take the full six to eight weeks for your bonus points to show up?

Do you have a link? I'm usually one to steer clear of signing up for cc's just for the perks, but that's awfully tempting. :)

Here is a link! Thanks to those who gave me the tip about this. I just signed up and it's going to save me a bunch! I did the 99.00 one for 50,000 miles and 6,000 anniversary. But they also have the one for 25,000 and 69.00 with 3,000 still offerred too! :surfweb:

Just google Southwest and it's right on their main page!

I was wondering the same thing, my purchase shows up on the website so just wondering how long before the points actually get credited. TIA!!

Both of our cards had the points show up at the end of the first billing cycle.

Thank you! I'm looking to do airfare pretty soon and was curious as to when the points would show up. The card shows up online, but I haven't received it yet.

Wow, this kind of sounds too good to be true. My husband will probably kill me but I think I'm going to sign up. I really want to start traveling more and I think we will be more likely to do it if we have free tickets!

Figures, we JUST booked a trip to Disney and spent $1400 on airfare. Guess we'll just have to book another trip next year :)
