Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

Just applied. Hubby got accepted right then, they are reviewing my application....would be nice to get all those points!

We are a strict no credit card family...

But this is soooooo tempting!

(would just about pay our entire airfare for our Sept trip!)

Now to think of a way to convince the hubby...

We pay our bills online using our CC but then instantly pay it off. That way we aren't accruing interest and are still earning rewards.

You don't need to pay it off instantly to avoid paying interest. As long as you pay by the CC due date....which can be a month or more after the purchase, you won't pay interest.

its really a no brainer....explain it and hell realize it........
good luck

Does anyone know if you can transfer your Chase Freedom points into your Southwest account? TIA

I am paying for my swa airfare of approx $ 760 thru points on this deal.. you do have to make 1 purchase first so my $5 light bulb purchase kicked in the points to me...bought my tickets like a month ago so i did have the 9/11 security fee of 10 bucks but that is now included... so breakdown..... I get 2 airline tickets worth $760 for $10 bucks and a yearly fee of maybe $69 dollars (at the time I appplied) and I still have points left over. and got two non stop flights and my bags travel free.

Have had a SW card for a long time, but just signed hubby up for one through this deal and he got instantly approved:thumbsup2. Also asked for a second card in DD's 17 name. They didn't ask for her social; will they send it if she is only 17? We're trying to establish credit for her and allow her to book flights home when she is in college next year.

I just got one- but wondering if the deal is for 1st time cardholders only?

They will send her one, but it will not build her credit. She will only be an authorized user, if they didn't ask for her social.

Just applied and got accepted instantly - I'm sure it helped that my current Disney Visa is thru Chase so they have my credit history already. I'm so excited to get the 50,000 points as we know we'll be going back to WDW next year(if I can wait that long!). In the meantime, I'll use this card as my primary card now as I've already got like $500 in Disney dollars on my Disney Visa. Boy, this next trip should cost me next to nothing if I work it right!

Anyone sign up for the card, make the one purchase, get the 50,000 points then cancel the card? That is what I would like to do.

This sounds FANTASTIC!

We always drive to FL when we go with the whole family, but we're taking an adults-only trip in the fall and need to fly. This will be perfect!

We've been debating flying out of our hometown (using Allegant) or Philly (using Southwest). This may have made up our mind. It would be worth the drive to Philly to fly SW with this deal!

Thanks for the heads up!

We did their last offer and it is totally worth it. They advertised it as being 2 flights, but the points were enough that we were able to purchase all 3 round trip tickets for our upcoming trip and only pay $15.00 out of pocket. It is totally worth it even with the annual fee.

We weren't planning on going until next march so I either have to hold onto the points until then or talk someone into an earlier trip... hmm...

Why would you want to do that?

You're paying a $69 annual fee for the card, you might as well keep it for the year and earn as many additional pts as possible on it during that time and then cancel before they charge you the 2nd year annual fee.

Because I have other rewards cards, but yes, I would cancel just prior to having to pay the next annual fee. Which leads me to another question, is it $69 or $99 for the annual fee? The link for the 50,000 points said $99.

It varies. Mine is $69, others have a $99 fee.

Can someone help me with a few questions? I'm thinking of signing up for the promotion, but am not sure how it will work to redeem the points.

We are going to Florida this summer, and there are 6 people in my family.

I looked up the points values on SW and 50,000 points would cover 3 RT tickets for our flights.

If I sign up for a card, and my husband signs up for a card. Will we both be able to book 3 RT tickets on the same flights? Is ther a limit to how many you can redeem o na flight? Are there only a certain number of seat per flight that can use points to book? To ensure we are on the same flight, would it be better if I booked 6 oneway tickets to Florida, and he booked 6 on the return flight. Will this work?

TIA for any help.

I have checked around and I don't think it's for the same time!!!
