Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

If the two flights are less than 50,000 points, can you continue to use the points to buy additional flights? Can you use the points for one way fares, or do you always have to book round trip fares with the points?

Yes. The points are deposited into your RR account and you can spend them as you see fit. You can get as many/types of flights as you want up to the 50,000 mark!

I did this offer about a month ago, and already have the 50,000 points on my statement. :thumbsup2 Have to wait til the dates come out for Thanksgiving next year- we are doing Disneyworld and Disney cruise. :cool1: At least the airfare will be paid for.

If you had the choice to take either offer which would you take? $69 for 3,000 pts on your anniversary or $99 with 6,000 pts?

They have both on the website.

It depends on your situation and what you will use the card for. We did both :goodvibes

I got the $99 card. I am now using this card as my primary card for daily spending (paying balance off in full every week or two). We also tend to fly at least 2-3 times a year on Southwest so we know we will be buying airfare one way or another. With the $99 you get the equivalent of $100 in points. We would be spending that anyway on airfare so it makes sense for us.

My husband has the $69 card. Since we use my card mainly it didn't make sense to have two at the $99 fee. We mainly opened his for the 50,000 pionts. On his anniversary he will get the equivalent of $50 in airfare so in essence his annual fee is $19. We are not sure if we will keep this card open after the first year, we will reevaluate then.

If you fly a lot and would be purchasing at least $99 in airfare each year, I think the $99 is the better deal. If you are a more casual flyer or plan to close the card within a year, then go with the $69 deal.

Okay! So we got our card, my husband went and made a purchase....so now what. We wait? How long? A friend said that the points don't come on your statement, but rather are entered into your Rapid Rewards account - we've never set up a Rapid Rewards account on southwest.com - will they do that for us, or do we need to do something? We will need to use the points AS SOON as they are available to us, since we will be cutting it close on time.

Yes, you need to tie the credit card to a Rapid Rewards membership number. You can get one on the Southwest website; then you'll have to have Chase add it to your credit card account -- otherwise, there's no where for the points to go and you can't book a "free" flight without a Rapid Rewards number. (hope I didn't just confuse you! :flower3:)

Thanks for the reminder OP! I just did it online and got approved. I've been receiving the 50,000 miles offer in the mail over the past month or so and just haven't acted on it. Now I did.

Off to tell my DM and DSis to do the same.

I was told it may take one or two billing cycles before they show up in my account, though others here have reported the points showed up almost immediately.

Just be prepared it may take a couple months to get the points.

Hmmmmm
I already have one of their cards and have miles on it, not sure if I want to add another but it is awfully tempting to have those free flights for next year...

I tried one link online after googling and it said offer not valid However, re-did it and went to the chase site and it is there, 69. a year...

I got a letter in the mail, it said that I already had their sw card (yeah) and they were wondering how they could help me so they are not sending me the new card
UGH!
I do have their card, have three with chase, all paid in full each month, thousands per year, small business owner and Excellent credit...????Who knows...I might call........not sure if it is worth the effort, but kinda annoyed more than anything. As tho they did not know ....I want those miles :rotfl:
I know you can have more than one disney Visa rewards card, but maybe sw you can't....:confused3

I told a friend about the 50,000 points. They got the $69 card a few months ago and got 25,000 points. I told them to call to see about getting another 25,000. They did and were told they would have to research it. Has anyone had this experience and received the extra 25,000 points?

Had a similar experience with Chase. DD applied while at downtown Disney, for 50 reward dollars. She was NOT instantly approved. A week after returning home she got the now approved credit card in the mail ... but NO mention of the 50 reward dollars, and nothing on the first statement. She called and got the run around ..... luckily she happened to have saved the literature from the offer. She READ the offer to the supervisor, and then the points were credited to her account.

For anyone who was recently approved for the Southwest card with the bonus of 50,000 points - how soon after the first use and payment of the first bill did the points show up in your Southwest rapid rewards account?

Mine showed up almost immediately after my first bill. I did not have to pay it first.

oooh thanks for the heads up~~ Just got mine in the mail, when I called to activate it the guy mentioned I would be getting 50,000 points. I was being a worry wart and afraid they would change the deal on me after giving me the card.... pfew! Great deal!

I did it! I just went and applied online and was instantly approved!:cool1:
I've been putting off applying since DH was turned down because he doesn't have enough credit history. (Most is in my name)

It was super easy as it pulled up my info from my Chase Disney card and within seconds I was approved and says my cards will be on there way. WooHoo now most of my airfare will be covered for next years WDW trip!

Now I just need to get the DVC rental I'm waiting on, and if we can get YES classes for both grandkids next Oct. with tickets, we'll be getting a real budget trip!

I applied a few days ago, got the message of we are reviewing your application. Got busy with work last week and this week, and forgot about it. Got an email today, saying that the card is in the mail.

We were planning to skip a year at Disney :scared1: , but this might be the flights to DL or Vegas!
