Southwest happy dance !

In less than an hour my flight just jumped $23 Coming home 9/6 now $150
Last year on the holiday weekend I paid $179

mixed bag here, had several dates to book. As expected, rates came out higher for same dates I booked last year, but will monitor for price adjustment.

For my first trip the last week of August was surprised to see the fares high.:magnify: Labor Day is a week away from our return, perhaps more people sneak in a last minute trip before school than I anticipated.

What I'm rather annoyed about is losing a decent fare while submitting payment - twice:crazy2: receiving the dreaded rate is no longer available error message.

wow! crazy! I can't believe we had to pay so much for daughter's flight when I was on so early. I kept refreshing and then as soon as I saw was on I booked DH and mine (figured two involved there.) guess I should have made hers first-ours has not changed yet! Trying to convince myself that prices for hers were just high to begin with, that I didn't just miss the good price-lol.

Just jumped again from $127 to $150 now $188 !! Glad I didn't wait

Labor day weekend flight 9/6

Labor day flight home cheap! 9/6 was $127 Going 8/27 $127 :jumping1:

Our flights home from MCO to ISP on 9/6 opened up at $185 (10:30am flight) & $234 (3:30pm flight - and is now $275) :scared1: . Those were the only 2 flights that day. 5 years ago, there would have been 4 or 5 flights from MCO to ISP to choose from, including one that took off from MCO around 7 or 8pm. SW has really cut back flights in and out of ISP. Surprising since A) the flights are always full and B) they are charging more for the flights than from other airports (typical exploitation of NY market). We ended up booking a flight to LGA that makes a stop (no plane change) for $154.

I booked this morning too. I refused to get up for the 6 am time and it cost me a bit. I was trying to book one way with points and as I was calling my DH to confirm he was OK with the flight time- the flights went up by 1500 points per one way ticket. UGHH. We ended up booking a later flight in the day- not thrilled BUT it works out as I work evenings at a hospital and I work till 11 pm the night before we leave. This way I get a full nights sleep instead of 4 to 5 hours- so it will be fine. Headed to see family first before Disney anyhow. Return home tickets were a little more than I wanted to pay but I was annoyed as the latest flight of the day now leaves at 6 something instead of 8 pm (as it does earlier in July and August) on a Friday night. Oh well. It is what is is. With points redeemed (for 3 one ways) I paid cash for 1 one way and 4 return homes- it was around $650. (This is BDL to MCO).

**we also were disappointed that the later flights left around 6 instead of around 8 or so like in june/ july. Less mouse time, but what can you do? At least we don't have to leave at 6/7 AM like some poor mouseketeers !

Oops, guess I waited too long. Rates jumped before I could buy. Glad I have choices here in the DC area. I'll be watching jetblue out of DCA or united out of dulles. Taking SW off the table for August, unless the price drops again. Bwi is more convenient than dca, but iad is closer. The price on SW this am was $115, now it's up to $132, but after adding early bird, that's $144 one way home x 5 people.

Same thing happened to me. I was not happy. And, our flight home was $185 (and I was on at 6!0 AM). Going down I was able to get $115 each person.

I was also surprised that there were so few direct flights from ISP. We used to always take a flight down around 10-11 AM. We are not morning people and hate that 7 AM flight. The day we fly down only had 3 direct flights 7AM, 2:30PM, and then a late evening flight. I really miss that late morning flight. Surprised to see so few direct flight choices as we have never flown either way on a flight that was not packed.

Are you also returning 9/6?

They have been steadily reducing flights in/out of ISP for about 8 years now. It's now less than half of the flights they offered at their peak in 2007. The times of the flights they have left are pretty lousy and inconvenient. We also used to opt for the late morning flight, but that was mostly because of DW - she didn't want to do the 6:30-7:00am flights. Now, there's really no choice unless you are okay with throwing away the entire day and arriving dinner time or later. I never minded that early flight as it gives us an almost full day in WDW. However, these times of the return flights are brutal.

Got up at 6:00a and kept refreshing until 6:15a when fares finally showed up for me.

In and out of Providence:

August flights: $96 going and $101 coming home... had enough points for the 4 of us to fly for free :)

October flights: $126 going and $111 coming home...DH still had points so one fare free and I had a couple of vouchers...total cost $85 and that included purchasing early bird check-in!!!

I'm a a happy camper today :yay:

I booked at $125 this morning and about 1 hr later is was nearly $300 ! so glad I am an early bird when it comes to getting up in the morning. It pays off! We are going down for a Disney wedding and other family members who did not listen to me when I said get online at 6 a.m. sharp are upset that they will have to pay close to $600 when I only had to pay $250.

I booked today too. $934 RT for the 4 of us out of Newark. I added the Early Bird Check In since we have kids. Flights aren't direct, but since we were planning on driving from NJ, it's much faster and less exhausting in the long run :) Super happy!

For the flights we booked yesterday morning, if we booked them now, it would cost us an additional $500 (for 4 of us).

Hmm... I'm thinking about this. My NS flights simply are not available. I think if I'm picky about dates I'm going to have to either pay a lot more by going to our local airport or pay at a lower price and have a layover.

Booked yesterday for 10/30 at $99 per person, that flight is now $179 today! Dodged a bullet. Our flight going was $135 but we're leaving on a Sunday, so I'll take it.
