Southwest Discount at Seaworld

Just an FYI - We were at Seaworld today. When we got to the ticket window I asked if they offered a discount for Southwest Rapid Rewards members. The cashier asked another person who looked liked a manager-type and then told me the discount was for tickets bought online. I said that I thought it was for tickets bought at the window. I was told they would check the computer, the manager did something on the screen, told me she didn't see anything but would make a call. When she got off the phone she told me it was for a 20% discount on up to 6 tickets. We saved over $78 on our 5 tickets - 4 adults and 1 child. It was like getting our youngest in for free. I had read that in the past, the discount was for 4 tickets so I had both my and my husband's RR cards but we were able to get all 5 under one card. Just thought I'd share our experience. :)

It's good that you were able to receive the discount, but it's discouraging that the employees are not fully informed about the policy or that they are not easily able to reference a cheat-sheet about available discounts on the spot. Customers really shouldn't have to go through a manager and then have that person research the issue to get to the answer. Many people might not be as persistent or know as much in advance as you did. Many people would have taken the first employee's word about it being an online discount and paid full price not knowing that they really were eligible for a discount. Anyway, it's good that it all worked out.

Thanks for posting your experience. We're going next week, and I planned on using the southwest discount. I'll try to be armed with info about the discount, since employees were vague on the details. But I'm glad you still got it! I wasn't sure it still worked.

So, you bought your tickets online but then presented your SW info at the gate and were still able to get the discount? If so, which online site did you use to purchase the tickets?

And, so you happen to know if you need the actual SW card or will the number itself work?

Thanks so much!

That doesn't appear to be what happened at all. The original poster tried to buy tickets at the window with a Southwest Card for the discount. The ticket agent mistakenly thought the discount was only available online (it's not). After checking with another employee, they determined that the discount was available at the window (as it should have been all along).

You're right about the OP not purchasing online.. guess I was distracted when I read that post.

Ok, now, all I need to know is if the SW number itself will work or will I actually need a card, because I signed up for the SW membership a few years ago but I have absolutely no idea where that card is:sad2:

I know in the past, you could print a card from the Southwest Rapid Rewards website. Check to see if that option is still available.

I was just on the Southwest website and can't seem to find the discount for the Seaworld tickets. Can someone give me the link or tell me the price? Thanks

The at the gate discount w/ the RR card is supposed to be 20% which is better than what's on that link and AAA. The 20% is what the OP seems to have gotten.

OP Here - Yes the discount we received was 20%. We did not try to get the second day free but I have read that in the past you were able to do so.

I just got off the phone with Seaworld. I wanted to know if I could purchase Busch garden tickets at Seaworld Orlando. I also asked about the SWA airlines promotion and if it was still going on. I was surprised to hear that according to her, it is ending March 31, 2011 :scared1:. I will be okay since I'll be at BG March 26-28 but I was surprised since last month when I called with another question, they told me they did not have an end date as of then.
