Southwest Credit Policy

I booked flights for our Nov trip in May and the price dropped $150 since then. So I re-booked at the lower price and now I have a credit with SW. I tried to figure out SW's policy on the credit and even emailed them but I just don't fully understand if I have to use the credit to buy and fly before the credit expiration date or just buy before the expiration date and fly after the expiration date.

Anyone experienced with SW know how this works?

I wish SW could just word it like that in the policy.
