Southwest Baggage Check Line

I don’t know if anyone else has reported on this, but yesterday (Saturday 11/20) at about 8 AM, the line to check bags at the Southwest counter extended out into the food court area, and it took about 25 minutes to get the bag checked.

I was there early enough, and have TSA Pre, so I wasn’t in danger of missing my flight. But, that line was pretty intimidating and irritating.

This was my fourth trip through MCO since the end of the resort check in service and the line was never more than 5 minutes on my other 3 trips. I assume that the start of Thanksgiving travel had something to do with it, but it is something to keep in mind. I actually got a DME bus 30 minutes before my scheduled time, and I was glad I did.

As it is I got to the gate about an hour before boarding, but seeing the length of that line and not knowing how long it would take would have made me uncomfortable.

In April, in MCO we saw an awful line, but a SW person pointed us toward the "Upper class" check in. Might be due to my DH with his rollator. Not really sure, who got to use that special check in but was so glad we got to.

I used Uber, which dropped me off right outside Southwest check in, and there's curbside check in. There was no line, so it only took a few seconds to check in. I tipped, but it was well worth the convenience.

While I was approaching the front of the line someone from the curbside check in came in and tried to attract customers.

By then I was so close to the front that it wasn’t worth it to get out of the line, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use it in the future if I saw a line like that.

It‘s like the airport version of an IALL.

I think the special check in for Southwest is usually for their A+ Rewards customers and people who have fares other than the cheapest Wanna Get Away fares.

I have one of their priority credit cards but I don’t think that’s good enough. I’ll have to double check the benefits of that card.

I was there yesterday afternoon. The Delta regular line and SkyPriority lines were both completely filled. I walked outside to curbside and there was no line. It was definitely worth paying the tip.

So glad to hear that. They didn't have that in April. You didn't fly out of Philadelphia, did you? I'm hoping they have curbside here too

We started using curbside about 5 years ago in Phila, Yes well worth it.

When we flew home from Orlando in July (visiting family; no WDW that trip) we did curbside check-in. At first, I thought it was the line just to get into the building and check in, and I was so happy to find that it wasn't, because the line INSIDE was nutso. Definitely worth the few dollars tip to go curbside, if possible!
