Very confused:confused3
My airfare went down & I tried to change it online. Got an error message, so I called SW to see what was going on. The woman told me because I had changed it once before, I couldn't change it again. :confused3 I told her I have done this many times in the past & didn't know what she was talking about. She stated it is part of their new policy. You can only change your reservation ONCE. I said "So if the fare keeps going down, I'm out of luck?" Her response was she couldn't help me.

Call back again. That's not correct. I changed my latest fares three times I think. The last time I called was because I got an error message online. I was booking a flight for four people -- I had to book our flights separately to use the funds. That's what they told me to do and it worked.

I was under the impression as well that you can change it as many times as you want :confused3

I do just that "all the time" including just last week. Sounds as if she is confused. If it is in fact true...then cancel the reservation and make a new one using the credit from the first. Doesn't make sense hope this was just a glitch.

Thank you all for your responses. I called back & the agent said this is their new policy. I can only change on line one time. After that, I could cancel by phone & rebook each person separately and lose my early bird fees. And she said that would be one time as well. So I confirmed w/her that you can only change on line once & after that call on the phone, cancel & rebook each person separately, one time. She said yes and if you booked early bird, you lose it. Seeing I did book early brid, I am leaving the reservation alone.

Did she say when this change took effect? I just changed our flights four (4) times this week, with the last one just yesterday. I did not have a problem.:confused3

Are you the only person on the reservation? It seems this is happening because when I booked it, my entire family was on one reservation (like it always was for past trips). Now, each person needs their own reservation number. Also, did you book early bird?

I did not book the early bird for this particular flight. The only problem I did have was when the flight went down there was only one (1) seat at the lower price. I called Southwest, and they separated the reservations. I have since changed the flight again. No problems.

I booked another flight (not related to this one), and changed it the next day when the flight went down. I called SW because I did not see my early bird on the changed reservation. I was told as long as you do the change within the first 24 hours, your early bird remains. After that, you lose it.

I really hate to be 'Debbie Downer' but here's the thing. We all love that some airlines allow us to make changes if the fares go down. I have done it in the past, and will do it again if applicable. But.....I can completely understand the airlines changing the policy regarding this. They don't send us emails telling us that they have charged our credit cards with an addtl amount due to the fares going up. So, why do we all get upset when we aren't allowed to change flights so as to get a cheaper fare?
I can see a time, in the not so distant future, where there will be no more changes allowed. Or, perhaps just one change..after that, you pay for it.

I know, I know...not what anyone wants to think about..sorry.

My situation was somewhat different but here goes. I had booked 6 passengers with RR seats. Four I had paid EB for. I changed 3 tix to an earlier flight (1 no EB, 2 EB). I had to call to do this because I had no idea if there were even 3 RR seats available for this flight. The CS rep had to put me on hold to get a supervisor to do the switch in order for the EB to transfer over. Not sure if getting a supervisor would help in your situation or if cuz it was a RR issue that they were able to help me.
