Hey..

Just wanted to say check southwest airlines regular website.. they have some great specials.. they haven't even announced! We got Nashville to Orlando for 49 each way.. we usually get a ding for 39 each way but didn't wait for that this time.. they did just announce they are going up a little b/c of fuel prices.. so we thought this was good.

Just wanted to share!

Hey Vicki!

Thanks for the heads up. I just rebooked my flight for May and saved another 150 dollars. I did have to change the return flight slightly but it was worth it.

Thanks for posting this and I am going over to the transportation board and post it too.

:thumbsup2

Way to go!! I LOVE SWA...just rec'd my third Rapid Rewards tix in two years yesterday. Now DD and DH can fly for FREE in Sept...if they'll only open travel then!!

can anyone here tell me if swa offers on-board entertainment like movies, tv shows or music? I've not been on swa for years and years but have booked them for a trip from indy to phoenix to visit my sister and I'm worried about keeping the kids entertained. Thanks! :sunny:

No, you have to bring your own entertainment (and be considerate of the other passengers - if you bring a DVD player, bring the headphones as well :)) Or you could bring books, or playing cards, or other distractions.

I checked later yesterday and it was 34, or so from Nashville to Orlando. But they didn't have it available on the return :( I was hoping we could squeeze in a quick trip LOL

A quick question for Southwest riders: I haven't been brave enough to fly Southwest with my family (I love it for solo trips) because my youngest has a peanut allergy. Do any of you fly with peanut allergic kids on Southwest?

This intrigues me. Why would this be a problem on SouthWest...and not on any other airline?

south west out of buffalo $54 for may and june!!!i got may 27 to june 2 for $54 thats to orlando and back

We went to Orlando last Sept. and I discovered that I Love SW!! We aren't frequent flyers at all, but I just signed up for rewards for a flight to Dallas that I have in July. So hopefully we'll earn at least 1 free ticket, they even said that if I mailed in a copy of my itenerary from the Sept. trip that they would give me point for that! Now there's a company who actually wants to provide customer service and wants to keep thier customers!! :goodvibes
BTW, I have 10 points already b/c I earned triple points on the flight from Mo to Tx!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :thumbsup2

I'm flying Southwest for an upcoming trip and I understand that there are no seat assignments, but that you board in zones. How do you get assigned to a zone? Is it according to when you buy the ticket (if you buy early do you get to load early) or when you check in?

Thanks!

Your boarding zone is based on when you check in. You can check in online up to 24 hours in advance. For your return flight, chances are your hotel's front desk or business office will check in for you - but of course you have to be standing there.

you are given an a ,b, or c boarding pass when you check in if you check in early you get an A pass if you check in later you get a, b or c pass then board when the letter before you gets on board

There are 3 groups - A, B and C group. You want to get into A group in order to board first. You can check-in online at anytime beginning 24 hours prior to the time of your flight. The sooner you check-in, the higher the probability you will get A group. You can even print your boarding pass and then just go through security and to the gate (unless you need to check baggage). There are roughly 40 people per group, so once 40 people check-in online (or at the airport), then B group will automatically fill and so on. This has nothing to do with when you bought the ticket, but rather how close to the 24 hour mark before your flight you check in and print your boarding pass.

I should also mention there's a 4th group - Pre-Boards. These are elderly people, families traveling with kids under 5, kids traveling alone, etc. These people can check-in online like anyone else, but their boarding group letter (A, B or C) is insignificant because SW gives them a special pre-board pass at the gate. They board first (before A group). Flights to and from Orlando tend to have many pre-boards due to the number of families flying, so even if you have A group, the plane may end up looking pretty full once you board.

I've heard rumors that SW is thinking about changing to a seat assignment system - not sure if or when that will happen.

Southwest is one of the few airlines that still serves packets of peanuts.
They recommend if you have peanut allergy, that you take the first flight of the day (the planes are only cleaned at the end of the day), and tell them of the allergy so they will withhold peanuts on the flight.

So far, we just stick with United or American...

Tammy, can you please explain how you did the rebooking? I've never flown SW (other airline hubs closer) but this piques my interest. Didn't think you could do that on other airlines. (?)
TIA

Thanks for the info on the check in/boarding. It was really helpful. I'm definitely going to check 24 hours in advance! :thumbsup2
