First the question:
Does Southwest charge a fee if you have to change flights?

Now the Disney Fanatic exasperation!

I'm planning a Mama-Get-A-Way solo trip (no kid, no spouse!!) in June and I have my room reserved for dates that I'm 80% sure will be ok. If those dates aren't ok, I can change the room w/o a penalty up to 31 days in advance.

I'm waiting to book my airfare because I'm waiting for my spouse to confirm that she'll doesn't have to travel for business during the time I'm hoping to be at Disney. I've been waiting for a week for her to first send the email questioning the trip dates AND now I'm waiting for her to get a response back from her email. ARUGH

I want to book now on Southwest to get the best price at the flight times I want, but I don't want to have to pay a huge change fee if I have to change the flights.

This waiting is killing me!.

Nope, no change fees on SW. You just have to pay any difference in price if there is one. Have a great trip!

Woo! That is great news! I am going to book my flights. Love Southwest!

And if the price is cheaper when you change your, you get a credit that just needs to be used within 12 months of when you originally booked.

I had booked SW back in Nov for a trip to St. Louis and then the fare went down so I rebooked. Just used my credit today in booking our airfare for a trip we're taking this summer. It was so easy! I love SWA!

Credit is good for one year. You have to fly not just make a reservation within one year of the date of your initial reservation. An issue if you need to postpone your trip or get a credit due to a fare reduction.

SW makes you pay the fare difference. That means if you want to take an earlier flight on your departure date (even standby) you have to pay the difference between the discounted fare you booked and the current ($$ fully refundable) fare.

I'm so glad you posted this question ! I was trying to find out on SW website if there are blackout days for a credit, if you get one. :cool1: I'm SOOO glad to know that there aren't ......

I hope you have a great solo get-away !!!
