Just got an email from Southwest that they will be opening bookings through May 08, 2009 on Thursday Nov 6th. Crap, this is just a few days short of what I need to book for the cruise. Guess I have to keep checking to see when they open it further into May so I can see what they are going to charge me.

Here is the e-mail I got: Since you’re a Rapid Rewards Member, we wanted you to be the first to know that on Thursday, November 6, 2008, we plan to extend the Southwest Airlines flight schedule to begin accepting reservations through May 8, 2009. That means you can start planning your Award travel for warm weather getaways and springtime fun!

Anyone else waiting for this…..
Don

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting for them to post for next spring. Looks like we might by flying out of the same or close-by airports. Have you taken SWA to Orlando before, and how was it?

We usually take the UA non-stop (the only non-stop we have to choose from), but I dont like the times or UA. Was thinking of trying JetBlue or SWA, but I'm not sure the layovers. Any suggestions?

perfect for the podcast cruise...

but my mom and sister will certainly fly on NWA....they're NWA frequent masochists...

as for me, i haven't yet decided how i'll get there...
probably fly, though my fear of flying has reached new heights...

Crud, that is just days short of the cruise. Air Tran has r/t airfare between Chicago Midway and Orlando for $104 each way. I'm tempted to take it, but wanted to wait on SWA first. However, now it will be gamble... Do I wait and lose the $104 at AT or do I book AT and then find that SWA is cheaper still??

ARrrrgggh!!

well if it helps your decision, i've never heard a kind word about air tran - lots of complaints that they're late or cancel flights...

Yes, AirTran does reschedule flights quite often, but I have flown them several times and actually, they have really nice planes and they do seem to leave on time more often than not. Given the days I'll be flying, I'd be okay with some rescheduling.

You can pre-arrange your seats for a nominal charge, which is nice. Air Tran is victim of a lot of bad press around here, but I've never really had a problem. Also, it's one of the only discount airlines to fly into Savannah, GA. Always a :thumbsup2 in my book!

well if you have good experience with them, i would book it if i were you...
$104 round trip is a good rate..
how much cheaper are you likely to get it? not much cheaper and possibly much more expensive....

if you like air tran, then go ahead and book it...

Thanks for the heads up Don! I'm planning a trip for May 3rd-8th! :cool1: I'm hoping some lucky Podcast cruisers will be coming in before the cruise for some WDW time! :teeth:

I'd book $104 if I saw it, but we don't have Airtran here. I've always had good service with SW though. I prefer them or Continental. But I've got a credit with SW so I want to go with them.
