I admit...I haven't checked the transportation boards in forever, but I do hope you can help with a question.

We always fly SW and with summer rates releasing tomorrow, I decided to check out the site. Does it only say "Business Select", "Business" and "Wanna Get Away" now instead of the 'old rates' ....such as "refundable", "fun fare", etc.... Did they change this???

Sorry if asked, but appreciate any help...

TIA!!!

That is the new pricing that went into effect (I think Nov 2007). I thought I could find the info on southwest.com to explain it more fully, but of course, I can't.

That's Southwest now. Cattering to the class that's not booking.

So if you buy a 'wanna get away' price, can you still board w/A if you log on 24 hours ahead?

Yes, you can. The price you pay for a ticket has nothing to do with what boarding pass you get when you check in on line.

Not true - if you pay for business select you are guaranteed and A boarding pass.

Yes but the lowest BP number you can get is A 16.

I just booked my first Southwest flight to WDW for June. Help me understand the benefits of logging on 24 hours in advance. If I log on to check in with Southwest 24 hours in advance, am I guaranteed a better boarding pass?

The closer to the 24 mark you log in the better the BP you get, no guarantees though!

Southwest boards by Boarding groups, A, B and C groups and then by number 1-60 so the lower the Group and the lower the number the earlier you will board the aircraft. Since SWA dosen't assign seats its first come first serve.

This was my understanding too. For what they charge though, I'd rather checkin 24 hrs ahead and take my chances.

ITA - the past few times there have been 1 or 2 folks in the 1-16 line. If they did pay for business select they paid over 200 for a ticket I paid 35 for and got to board about 10 places before I did. Of course they could have been A listers but either way IMHO any seat at $35 that gets me to FL is a good one.

Thanks everyone.... we purchased our air today

I had not realized they changed and "condensed" the fares into the "wanna getaway" category.... Guess it's easier for them? :confused3

I do find it amusing/ironic that you are paying so much extra for "Business" and "Business Select"... $20 difference....so, you are actually "buying" those credits....not a freebie?? Glad I don't carry a SW credit card.....
