It's really hard to deal with situations like that, I think. Especially when it's family...food almost becomes an extension of their affection. In some instances, someone on a diet can almost seem...selfish. My friend and I were actually talking about this last night. She lost a lot of weight last year on the SB, and she was saying that some of her friends would be upset with her...like she was ruining their fun girls night out because she wasn't drinking beer or having a dessert.
The in-laws thing...I really relate here. I'll be seeing mine in a month, and I'm really nervous. I love them and they've treated me so well, but they are very opinionated and have very definitely ideas about what is or isn't healthy (I found one evening when they made gentle but pointed references to my being overweight). They always welcome us home with a TON of food (Italians) so I'm going to have to be really strategic.
I think the best strategy is just anticipating those moments...like when someone goes to the kitchen for dessert, just tell them that you are really full and maybe you'll just have coffee. If they get all bent out of shape, say you'll take a piece home with you...then you can just dump it in the trash later. Or just be honest...but be prepared for the longer conversation that might follow.

) derail what you've already done or make you feel "I cheated so what's the use" ...... just get back on plan as soon as you can and move forward !

It is amazing to me that after two weeks I am looking forward to fruit as oppossed to cheese croisants or turtle ice cream... not that I would not enjoy that stuff, but I don't feel this overwhelming desire. I can see that this plan is working for me and I understand my cravings a lot better.
